Jigs are MONEY.... 23lb. 10oz. limit!!!!

Featured Replies

Hudson, Robert, and I headed up to our famed golf course honey hole on Labor Day in the early morning for some serious fishing.  We arrived at the lake before dawn, at a little after 6 oclock.  We started making casts in one of our best spots:  right on the dock.  We have caught some of our biggest bass just fishing from the dock before even getting in the boats.  We were all using jigs (they absolutely slay at this lake) and were casting around the dock and the shore in the chilly, extremely windy, darkness of what was about to turn into an excellent Labor Day.  The following action was a bit quick and my memory fails me when I try to follow the story to exact detail, so this may be a bit out of order or incorrect... but it works...  Robert stuck a nice 3 off the shore a ways.  We snapped a pic and got our lines back in the water.  I was vertical jigging off the side of the dock and got whacked by something that bent my rod double and tested my drag.  I played her in and lipped the 8 lb. 9 oz. bass that had a NICE belly and was a hawg of a fish.  Snapped some more pics and turned around in time to witness Hudson land 3 nice bass on 3 consecutive casts  :o.  I landed a lil 1.5 and Rob stuck another 1 something bass.  As the sun rose we got in the boats and puttered over to our favorite spots, not hitting any luck until a bit later as I moved across the lake.  I stuck a nice 3-10 on the edge of a cove and then moved to another cove across the way to teach the two guys who were sitting there chunking cranks into the middle of the lake how things are done.  They finally came around after I caught a 3-5 and a 5-10 in front of them, and they started following me into the cove and casting near the grasses.  I called Rob and Hudson over and Rob got into my boat.  We set off for the other side of the lake where I caught a 3+ and almost landed a carp on my jig while Rob tried for it with some bread  ;D.  We moved over to some vegetation protruding from the water and Rob almost got a nice bass while swimming a jig.  I swam my jig in the same place and it got nearly inhaled by the same bass that gave me another 2+ lbs  ;D

My 5 fish limit for the day went 23 lbs. 10 oz.!!! It was a great day with lots of jig fish

In about 10 years you and your buds will be sitting around visiting and one of them will say, "You guys remember that Labor Day we slayed the bass...?"

Your wives will wonder what all the whooping and hollering is coming from the backyard as you relive that day.  Treasure it.
