Most fun bass I've ever caught!

Featured Replies

Was out today in a small lake that is NOTORIOUS for 1-2 lb bass, never seen anything caught out if it over 3. Was using a new Light action BPS Wally Marshall combo that I just got a few days ago along with some Suffix Siege 6lb line and a watermelon Senko... Second cast, I kinda missed the spot I was aiming for so I was reeling in the Senko on the top of the water kinda fast, all of a sudden, BAM! FISH ON!

This guy fought so hard! Took my drag out all over the place!!

Finally got him up to the shore!

Solid 5 pounds. NEVER seen a fish this big in this lake. By far the best fight I've had with a bass! Took one or two more pics, but my camera was dying and they didn't make it...

Also learned that a Senko can be used as a topwater bait. It does have a nice little wiggle to it and almost kinda walks the dog if you twitch it right...

Is that a bunch of lily pads fenced off in the water?

Thanks guys! Yeah, there's a nice little area over there that is kinda fenced in... But it has been there for a while and there are holes in it all over the place, my friend's caught a few bass inside that area lol... It's full of lilly pads, cattails, and trees.. Really a nice little lake, and I plan to get out there a lot more since I know that there's some bigguns in there now!

thats pretty neat.

heres a tip you might like:

if you go to walmart or dicks or where ever and pick up a pack of the strike king 3x Zero's, take them out of the package, and just stretch them as far as they will possibly go. make sure you stretch the entire bait. you probably wont be able to totally stretch it in one pull, you'll probably have to stretch the back 1/3 of it, the middle, and the front.

but anyway, after it has been completely stretched out, it will float!

then you can twitch it along the surface just like a topwater bait.

nice fish, congrats.

Nice fish! Another tip: after a missed strike, kill your bait. A lot of times the fish will hit it again. Most of the time I fish all the way back in unless im looking for a certian reaction strike.

Have some of these and will try. Sweet! Thanks!

yeah I definitely learned this technique by accident, I missed a quick strike and just stopped and starting cursing myself, next thing I knew the fish smacked the bait again I had the chance to redeem myself. :)

Really nice fish!! A fish like that would make my year. Yeah, its been slow for me this year. Next month you will still be talking about that fish. :)

nice looking fish. senko style baits make great weightless jerk baits too.

Heh, it was definitely the biggest I've caught in a few months at least! And I'll be talkin' about this fish until someone catches one bigger outta that lake! (which probably won't be for a while... I think this guys like the old wise grandpa bass lol) ;D
