Ok so I really into top water frogs and the Rage Tail Shads. Well I am walking around the Ft. Lauderdale BPS and find these hooks. Well Any one use these with out ruining 4 frogs for every one that rigs properly by the instructions? I sat there for 20 minutes and destroyed 4 frogs trying to fiquire this out. I mean its a hook. It should not be that difficult. May be I should have tried the Gambler one instead.

I think I will stick to the Gama 5\0 EWG hook.

i too have tried those and they didn't work for me either . i think i'll also stick to 4/0-6/0 EWG hooks , i just hate to tearing up the heads of frog on mats when the hook snags , yes i skin hook the hook point but just barely so i can get better hook-ups faster . Owner screw lock hooks work good on some frogs with a drop of crazy glue where the frog is screwed in . well , the frog hooks aren't a waste , ill use them as stinger hooks for big swimbaits .........  

Hey there buddy! I haven't used the hooks in question, but I normally use a 5/0 Gammy EWG as well for frogs and the Rage Tail Shad... Never really have any problems with 'em, except the Shads sometimes wanna roll over... Others here have suggested getting a keel weighted hook to keep them running good... Haven't tried that yet, but I would imagine it would work pretty well...

I am on benoit farms road. I am pretty new to the area and hit some ponds up when I can.  Been getting a Good topwater bite too. I Threw the rage tail shad through a bunch of those fake Geese yesterday morning and had a 7 pound take it right into one of the geese. It was loud when he crashed down on top of the plastic goose. I had three people who were walking around the pond come over and see the 7 pounder work me over pretty good before I got him in. He swam away for a good release.

I bought those hooks and HATE THEM. Try the Gambler Cane toad hook, it is by far a better and easier way to rig them.

I think the key is having a big frog. I tried them on smaller frogs and had problems went to a Manns hardnose frog and the hooks fit fine. Maybe just use them on your bigger frogs. Big advantage is that they allow you work a frog fast and not roll over so if your fishing slow you dont need them anyway.

I've not used the Tru Tungsten frog hook, but I will also suggest the Gambler Toad hook.  Just screw into the nose of the bait and then pus the bait in between the hooks.  No need to bury the points or anything as the hook kinda cradles the bait and the points lay on top.

Yes, the bait can pop out of the hook now and then, so you have to keep an eye on it, but it is very easy to just pop it back it in.

These hooks have worked very well in pads and grass.

Another suggestion to avoid torn up frogs and toads is the Reaction Innovations Screwed Up Bullet.  It is like a screw in weight, but made of clear plastic and really helps a bait slide through vegetation.

Thanks Brad I am really starting to like the reaction innovations baits. I will have to try and get some of the bullet heads.

I have some but havent used them yet. I like the 2 hook idea. LOVE FISHIN FROGS! You guys ever try super glue @ the head of the bait. Really keeps the frog from sliding up well.
