That is one big, ugly carp!!

How long did it take for you to get her in?

I bet that was a fun fight there!!

In your photobucket link, you have a pic with some flies.  Did you tie those dragon fly ones?

It took about fifteen minutes to get her in, made multiple sizzling long runs, every time I got her close she burned right out.  Took at least ten minutes to get color.

As for the fly box, I only tie the simple patterns for now.  The dragon flies are a blast in the late summer, many bass will even smash them midair while the loop has just turned over.

I was a little nervous too but my husband is standing over my shoulder telling me to open it.. ;D

Nice one. I would rather go on a valentines date with one of my Kois though. Hey heres a tip. When you upload pics to bassresource.com useing photobucket copy and paste the very last link it offers labled "image code" It will directly pose the picture on bassresource.com instead of the link. Check out my post from this weekend. I use photobucket for image shareing too.

hey 5poundbluegil, looks like you have some competition on the exotics.   i know in florida, it is illegal to remove a carp from any of the body of waters they were placed in. i see carp in some of the canals down here that are easily 20 pounds. i refer to them as ghetto redfish, they fight just the same.

He didnt kill it actually. Believe it or not he caught that fish and went running home with it to weigh it. I think running with that big slippery fish would be a pain in the ***. After he weighed it he ran back to the lake revived the fish and released it in a small section of the lake that is separated from the main lake.

All carp should be killed. Lots of people will eat them if you won't.

Kill the carp and give it to someone.

I suspect a misunderstanding. I bet the regulation reads "It is illegal to

introduce carp into any body of water".

That regulation was written with grass carp in mind, not common carp.

i never said he killed it, i just stated that in some of the lakes in florida where they are stocked, it is illegal to remove them from that body of water.
