pond fishing report

Featured Replies

well me and my dad went out this morning and got to the pond at about 7:30. I first casted a buzz a few times... nothin, then a shallow crankbait... nothing, then I busted out the baby bass flukes and started wackin em. I gave my dad a bunch and he headed down the side of the pond, with he wind at his back, it was blowing about 20 mph and drizzling rain. I decided to stick around the truck and try out more baits to see what they would hit. I ended up catching them on a chatterbait, swimbait, spinnerbait, rat l trap, and the flukes. Between me and my dad we caught about 40 and it is still pretty slow. Biggest one was about 3 and half pounds. Nothing on topwater yet though, also tried a toad and got no hits. Thanks for all the info it helped alot, I just had to try my own thing and it worked. In a couple weeks it is going to be rediculous.

Man I wish fishing was that good in North Carolina's ponds.

It can be if you know where to look.  ;)

Sounds like a great outing, nice job.  8-)

^ correct. There are thousands of big bass ponds in nc. go on google earth look for ponds find out who owns them and ask if you can fish (make sure you catch and release as a service to the owner)

Accept for a little wind and rain, sounds like a great day of fishing.

The wind and rain were your friends that day.

Wind stirring up the water and the rain getting the fish excited as the cold front passed so moving baits would produce for you.

Great report and so glad you nailed them for everyone of us who are stuck in the cold this winter and can't go fishing.

Keep those letters and post cards coming during these cold months.  ;D

Sounded like a fun day.

Yeah, go knock on some doors. Often, anglers simply don't bother asking and never find out what's just around the corner!
