Hook for Anaconda

Featured Replies

6/0-7/0 Gamakatsu Monster hook. From no weight to 1/4 oz bullet weight. You can even go up in hook size, for 10 inch worms and up I prefer a 11/0 owner oversize worm hook. I love the cutting point on this hook ;D

I dont want to hijack the thread....but..has anyone had any luck on the anaconda's?

I bought 3 packs and haven't got to try them yet.

I don't know. I get 3 different answers. 5/0, 6/0 and 7/0 :;) And I'm not a fan of offset hooks. I prefer a wide gap.

Steve -Big O? I have seen your pictures of your catches at Falcon with Anaconda. What brand and size did you used there?

Greg Hackney just won the FLW East West fish off on Falcon on the Rage Anaconda. I think he likes'em  ;)

Hmm if you wanted one answer should've just said so. 11/0 owner oversize worm hook. 8-)

Tx rig with 1/4 oz and up weight or Carolina rig. I used 6/0 heavy wire-off set-long shank-Eagle Claws. Used them for years with great success. They do rust after usage but I don't care...they catch fish.

Also use alot of 6/0 EWG Gammys and a variety of keel weighted hooks too.

Geez....

I love ya buddy, but Eagle Claws?

I don't think so.

Let me say that differently,

"I'm surprized you would recommend Eagle Claws."

Man nothing wrong with eagle claws, unless you got a conquest/evergreen combo. And that hook is on that rig

Then it would just be blasphemous

I will probably change when another hook manufacturer designs a hook that is identical in eye offset shape, overall length and shape, gap width, wire strength and eye of hook is completely closed so that braided line doesn't rip thru eye gap. This particular hook provides excellent hook up percentages yet is slender, long and strong.

Until another suiter comes along and offers a better package, I will continue to use the old brown dogs on the Annies, especially in the grass where the EWG's cause too much drag.....

Okay then, You da MAN!

I really like this bait, so if you haven't tried it yet, give it a shot.

There are many ways to fish the Anaconda, but my success has come

from fishing the bait just like any other big worm: slow, lifting it off the

bottom, falling on slack line and letting the bait sit for at least thirty

seconds between movements.

I have caught a few 3s and 4s, but most of the bass I have caught on

the Anaconda have been pigs.

Try Strike Kings Saber Point hooks; I believe y'all will find that's what Mr. Hackney was using ;)

I like the 7/0 owner hooks, they have performed well for me when using the anacondas.

Nope.

Pasted from another site- "5/0 and 6/0 Youvella extra-wide-gap hooks (black nickel), 10" Strike King Rage Tail Anaconda"

6/0 - 8/0 I don't care the brand!
