More schooling is fun...

Featured Replies

Schooling is still crazy these days. Went out on Sat and Sun. Only caught ~65 on Sat, most in the 1-3 lb range. Sunday we had some weather coming in and once it passed, the sun came out and the wind died down and the fish really got turned on. Ended up catching over 100. The size got a lot better too. We ran into schools of 3-5 lbers. There were times you'd bring one to the boat and look down and see several others following along. That's fun when they're small, it really gets your heart racing when they start pushing 3-5 lb size.

My best tactic right now is  swimming a big anaconda through the grass until they start schooling on top, I then grab my pop-r and go to town. Sometimes the school will only be active for a few minutes. Sometimes they are active for hours. At one point we had would appeared to be 3 large schools around the boat. I had to have caught a fish on every cast for more than 20 casts. You would cast it out and get hit over and over the whole way back to the boat. Even had a couple doubles on a spook. All in all it was a great day and I wished I had been in a tournament as our best 5 went around the 26lb mark. Ofcourse, we'd never catch that many in a tournament!

Didn't take as many pics as I should have, but when the fish are biting like that, you don't stop to take pics!
