First one of the year!

Featured Replies

Finally started warming up yesterday so I went out this morning for a bit with my new combos. I started throwing a lipless crank, Spro Aruku Shad, and third cast saw a decent bass following it but it turned around when it saw me. Then before I left I put the Aruku Shad on my Dx744c just because and was reeling in admiring how smooth the Curado is when I felt this baby hit it. I'd say a solid 2lbs.

These Dobyns rods are awesome. I was straight launching jigs from 1/4-3/4 with the dx744c.

Nick, which felt better the 1st bass of the year or using the new combo to catch the first bass of the year?

I was just excited to catch something. It finally hit a high in the 50s yesterday so I went out around lunch time just to try out my new combos.

I went out this morning and got this one on my Savvy/Curado. It's a solid 3-4 lber and the Savvy 663c handled it perfectly. Same lure, Spro Aruku Shad.

I don't want a scale, I like my guesses better.  ;D

Great fish man! What kind of combo is that and how much was it?

Great to hear the new setups workin out for ya.  Have yet to get either of mine on the water but I think I'm gonna like them.  Would really like to hear how they compare to the extremes when the weather warms up.

In the first picture is a Dobyns Champion Extreme with a Curado200E. It's a 300 dollar rod and 180 dollar reel, but I paid about 380 for both. The second picture is a Dobyns Savvy with a Curado 200E, 150 dollar rod and 180 dollar reel, but again for the rod I only paid 120 and the reel was like 140.

That Zillion looks great on that Savvy, I was thinking of picking that one in the b/s/t to put on mine instead of the Curado but can't decide because I also want to pick up a reel this weekend at bps with the trade in thing. :-/

But so far the only differences that I can tell a difference on is sensitivity. The Savvy is sensitive, just not as sensitive as the Extremes. Other than that, they fish the same to me so far.
