His first "all by myself bass!"

Featured Replies

Too windy for the little boat today, so went to some private stock tanks.  After about and hour and a half of no bites, he finally got a couple, and caught both!  He made the cast, set the hook, and reeled em in!  Both were caught on a Zoom Trick worm rigged weightless.  He was rollin in style too, with my Abu 801 and American Rodsmiths combo.  He did great, guess it his brothers turn tomorrow.

Thanks, however I am his uncle, but I might as well be his dad.  My wife and I have had permanant custody for almost two years now and they have lived with us for almost three years.  Their "real dad" is a total and complete waste of perfectly good oxygen, same with their mother.  We are in the process of seeking permanant custody with NO visitation which will hopefully lead to adoption.  Thats another thread though, this was a fun trip, he had a blast!  And I did as well!!   ;D

I remember you posting about this Red, too bad, but I was glad that you were able to step in and give the kids the love and attention they deserve!  Great job and congrats to the youngin' 8-)

That's what it's all about. Those are some nice fish! He sure knows how to hold them for the camera! Must have a good teacher. Awesome!

Thanks y'all.  I told him to hold it towards the camera to make it look bigger, the third and fourth pics are the same fish, looks like it worked!

Looks like a happy ending. Congrats to both of you.

Really cool - My first chilld is on the way - ETA 9/4/10 - I really look forward to such experiences  ;D  ;D

And what a nice "first fish" - mine was so much smaller - oh and trick work weightless one of my fav. tactics on top water or just below surface around weeds and other cover - that kid is gonna be ruined now - a bass junky  ;D

Edits as you requested Red - hope you enjoy.

It's all summed up by the smile on his face.

Red, that's great what you're doin, man! That little guy is hooked for life now! Looks like he's got a cool Unc to guide him through! :)

Hey man, that's awesome! I wish my dad would've taken me fishing when I was his age. Lucky kid!

Sidenote: I bet for a kid that size, reeling in bass that size probably felt like monsters! I know they sure look it held out in front of him like that! ;D
