First outing and bass of 2011

So I just purchased a new boat(no pics yet, but to come) and am in the process of getting it just the way I want it! Hadn't planned on fishing anytime soon, but the weather cooperated today. It reached 64 in Memphis, so I had to go! Called my dad, and he met me as soon as I got off work(1pm) and we headed over to the lake! We fished from 2-5:15 with the temperature between 52-64. Started warm and the temp started dropping fast! Winds were between 4-8 and because I don't have the boat finished yet, I don't know the water temp! Started throwing spinnerbaits and caught a dink within the first 5 min. Came up to some structure and after not getting bit for awhile I picked up my jig rod! My dad missed a fish on a worm and then a couple mins later caught a 2 lber or so! Worked our way around a little more and I caught my first bass of 2011 on a 1/2 oz black and blue jig with a rage tail baby craw trailer!

Ended up catching 3 and a drum! Thought I had a nice bass but when I started to reel in I realized it wasn't fighting like a bass! Dad caught just the one, but we had a great time! Here's a pic of my first bass of 2011(kind of, the first one wasn't halfway picture worthy)

Any bass in January is picture worthy. ;D

I'm glad you had a good time.  What's with the short sleeves?  Are you trying to rub it in.   :)

Very nice......where did you get to go, and how is your boat coming.

Went over to my club in Arkansas!  Boat is coming along, not finished by any means, but with that pretty of weather, I couldn't resist!  At that point all I had was back deck built and trolling motor mounted!  As of now I have rod holders on order, and still haven't made up my mind about carpet/bed liner for the floors and such!  Still waiting on the gas motor as well!

Nicely done Jeff!  When the days start getting longer hopefully I'll have some time get out on the water.  Have you fished any near me lately?

That's a good first one of the year. Congrats man!

No fishing near you ARCH, but with warmer weather this week, and it not being busy, might have to try some small pond fishing this week!

Jeff

00mod,

Went pond hoping today at Collierville, Shelby Farms, and a few ponds on Humphreys. Didn't do well but the water is still cold. If you're going later in the week it will probably work out. Sorry if all I did was repeat what you already knew.
