Need Some Help

Featured Replies

I work at the local Walmart in the sporting goods department, we are planning a take your kid fishing day at our store to promote fishing, i am looking for some ideas for kids and their parents to participate in, last year we had a reel race, fish toss, Coast Guard and face painting ( it was kinda lousy) and this year i want to go ALL OUT and make it the best ever! Please email me at fireflirt013@aol.com or post an idea here, If you ha e ANY ideas please let me know! Thanks Cari

How about a casting contest? Can never go wrong with that. Set up a few targets (you can make with cardboard boxes and some paint) and have some spincasting combos ready with practice plugs, somewhere out of the way perhaps even the parking lot. Let 'er rip! Top 3 or 10 kids win a little prize.

Maybe fish trivia? Some simple questions for kids and prizes for winning!

Great idea, always great to get families interested in fishing together. Hope it turns out well!  :)

have bass in a tank, thatd be cool. Wish my loacal wally world did that. do yall actually go fishin somewhere?

Perhaps you could also do a structure based casting contest showing how bass relate to it in the water, simulating docks.logs and boulders and you could construct it all with cardboard from the store.

The one club I belong to holds a Kids Day every year and we have raffles and lots of prizes. It takes a couple of years to get one of those events off the ground but we have about 150 + kids every year now. Also, I arranged to have St. Vincents Life Flight to come in last year and it was a huge success. They brought books, stickers and things for the kids. They love to do things like that. You would be suprised how many other donations you can get from business owners for something like that to help make it bigger. Sell 50/50 tickets too. The kids fish for 4 hours and we give rod and reel combos to the top 10 in each age group. All the prizes are bought with donations.

Hope that helps, it's great to watch them. Hook them on fishing and hopefully it keeps them out of trouble. Hope this helps,
