Fishin' in the Rain
We fished 2 tournaments this weekend and Saturday it was 37 degrees with sleet and 20-25 mph winds and Sunday it was 32 degrees with 25 mph winds and snow. Threw a "Salty Sling" (sinko look alike) with a split shot and a centipede. What a cold front. It was 75-80 degrees last week. Believe it or not, the fish were still shallow and just on the outside of the pads. Took 2nd and 4th so won't complain I guess, but is my boat ever trashed and soaked. lol... Hook 'em hard, Snag

no bite
If you can see them, they can see you. Try a different approach and cast past them onto the shore like others have said. Slow and easy, be patient and they will bite. Basst of luck, Snag

How do you choose?
There has always been alot of discussion about color and I have found that if you can match the color of the bait fish and crawdads. I use alot of greenpumpkin and watermellon in all different lakes and do well. I also use blue fleck powerworms alot also. Maybe I'm just lucky but those are the colors I use most of the time to find fish. I have about every color they make but use those most. Good luck, Snag

Fish feel pain?????
I wish I could have all the worms that came out of that can that was opened with that thread.. Great bait.lol.. Anyhow, great artical Glenn and I'm still for fishing. If you get a hook in your finger it heals right? Well, take care of your fish and release them carefully or as stated before, kill them humainly for eating. We as fisherman, especially tournament fisherman are already a "spot" in the public eye. Lets treat our fish carefully and respect the sport and we can all have a clean conscience. Thats my .02. Later all, Snag

How many days??
I probably fish 80 - 100 times a year easy but it's still not enough....lol Later, Snag

How would you approach this lake?
I would have to start out with a white spinner bait, slow rolling as a search bait. Next, a jig and pig around docks and cover then back off a bit and fish a worm, lizzard or tube slowly. Thats just my .02... Tight lines, Snag

Three lures to start every day

Ok, serious question
My girlfriend belongs to some other forum and there was something on there about fish finders. It said the sonar sends out waves that pick up on the air bladders in fish thus marking fish on your screen. I can believe that. Then it says the fish can actually feel those waves...Is this true?? Wouldn't that spook the fish? This is the first time I have heard anything like that so I thought I would come to the best forum to get the right answer. Tight lines, Snag

How to convince her to let you fish
Everybody asks me how I get away with fishing so much without the little lady getting upset. Well, I'm gonna let the cat out of the bag.... I set the alarm for 5:00 am, tap her on the shoulder and say fishing or s-x? She says take a sweater, it might be cold. lol..... Snag

Smallmouth
On Detroit River and St. Clair River I have always done well on green pumpkin, green pumpkin/red fleck or anything in a goby color. Venom has tube with a color I do not know the name of but it is a brown/rust color with orange and gold fleck. I'll look in my tube box and see if I can find the color. Hook 'em hard, Snag

fishing with out a license humor
Not about fishing, but a funny one. Two guys were duck hunting one day and they shot a swan. Just then the game warden came up and said you can't shoot those. The one man said, I'm sorry I didn't know that, I shoot one of these everytime I come out; they are soooo good. While the game warden is writting the ticket he asks the man, so what does swan taste like anyway? The man looks at him and says.........Kinda like Bald Eagle.. He then had to go to the ER to get his foot out of his mouth....lol ;D

How did you /Who got you started in fishing?
I actually began on my own. My Dad said he didn't have the patience to sit and fish, so while I was growing up watching him play tennis at a park by the river I found an old cane pole at my Aunts house and taught myself to put a worm on the hook. After many mistakes I learned to do it somewhat right lol.. But the big mistake came when I caught my first catfish. OUCH....Didn't take long after that to learn how to hold them lol.. From that day on, I was hooked and the rest is "Early to bed, early to rise, fish like he.. and make up lies"... Later, Snag

Keeping bass alive
We have talked about doing that too but even with me being a medic I'm not comfortable doing that. If you don't fix the problem you will make it worse for the fish. Thats just me, I know people who can do that successfully and thats great but I just use my ice weights or the deep release weight for my own comfort.. lol. Another great tip though, thanks. Snag

Keeping bass alive
I am re posting this from one of the other threads to hopefully help everyone keep bass alive during tournaments. This is my post from "Tournament Talk" One thing we have found in the clubs I fish is that if you have a fish on his side in your livewell you can take a bigger ice fishing weight and clip it to his bottom fin. This will put him upright and he can swim back down usually making things better for him. This works great for bass taken from deep water also when they get the bends. There is a gaget out there for returning fish to deep water with the bends. It consists of a 8-10 oz. weight with wire in it. One end ties to your rod and the other is placed through the fishes mouth. Drop the fish into the water and simply pull up on your rod. This pulls the wire out of the fishes mouth and leaves him at the bottom where they can decompress themselves and they are fine. If you want more info on this gaget get with me and I will send you a picture or I will send you one. One of the guys in our club makes them and sells them to us in the club for $2.00. Pretty cheap to keep fish alive I think. Hope this helps. Keep them alive and it will keep tournament fishing alive, Snag

Does lure advertising effect what you buy?
Well, when I was younger and just getting into fishing I would go out and buy "The latest and greatest" bass lure. I was roped in by the flying lure, which actually was not bad, and the helicopter lure, now they saw me comming there lol. Now that I'm older and have more sense, ok......... older, I am a little more careful what I buy. If the ad looks good, I'll go take a up close and personal look at it. Good fishing, Snag

Will the Price of Gas change how you fish?
Thanks for the replies all on the octane.. My motor is due for a tune up this spring anyhow so I can have them get everything set to a "T". Hopefully the cheaper stuff will work.

Am I really crazy like she says I am?
Ok, please stick up for me on this one guys. My girlfriend thinks I need to see a shrink because I tie on plastics and work them in the bath tub for practice to get the action down. Am I really nuts or is this a normal practice like I tell her it is? Dear god, I must be addicted lol.... Needing help in Ohio, ;D Snag

Will the Price of Gas change how you fish?
I'm probably going to whine a little louder about it but it probably won't change the way I fish much. I fish about 20-30 tournaments a year and the gas "hurts" any way you look at it with a 50 gal. tank on the boat and 26 on the truck. Speaking of gas, can anyone tell me if I am wasting my money by putting the "good stuff" in my boat? I have always heard you should run the hi test in boat motors. I have a 2000 Merc. 175 EFI. Just curious, Snag
