  1. We fished 2 tournaments this weekend and Saturday it was 37 degrees with sleet and 20-25 mph winds and Sunday it was 32 degrees with 25 mph winds and snow. Threw a "Salty Sling" (sinko look alike) with a split shot and a centipede. What a cold front. It was 75-80 degrees last week. Believe it or not, the fish were still shallow and just on the outside of the pads. Took 2nd and 4th so won't complain I guess, but is my boat ever trashed and soaked. lol... Hook 'em hard, Snag
  2. If you can see them, they can see you. Try a different approach and cast past them onto the shore like others have said. Slow and easy, be patient and they will bite. Basst of luck, Snag
  3. There are a few FREE websites out there at least for starters. I don't have the addresses anymore but I will try to dig them up and post them. You get 5 pages for free. Not too bad to start out on. Later, Snag
  4. Welcome aboard catnip. I'm sure you will find all the information you want here. Very good site and very smart fisherpeople. Basst of luck, Snag
  5. 1/2 or 3/4 oz Midnight Special Spinnerbait or a 7 or 10 inch powerworm blue fleck. Sometimes I throw a Venom Salty Sling or Reebs Sluggo in greenpumpkin weightless.. Basst of luck, Snag
  6. There has always been alot of discussion about color and I have found that if you can match the color of the bait fish and crawdads. I use alot of greenpumpkin and watermellon in all different lakes and do well. I also use blue fleck powerworms alot also. Maybe I'm just lucky but those are the colors I use most of the time to find fish. I have about every color they make but use those most. Good luck, Snag
  7. John, do you have a picture of the tupperware containers you use or where you got them? Sounds like a good thing. Later, Snag
  8. I wish I could have all the worms that came out of that can that was opened with that thread.. Great bait.lol.. Anyhow, great artical Glenn and I'm still for fishing. If you get a hook in your finger it heals right? Well, take care of your fish and release them carefully or as stated before, kill them humainly for eating. We as fisherman, especially tournament fisherman are already a "spot" in the public eye. Lets treat our fish carefully and respect the sport and we can all have a clean conscience. Thats my .02. Later all, Snag
  9. I probably fish 80 - 100 times a year easy but it's still not enough....lol Later, Snag
  10. I would have to start out with a white spinner bait, slow rolling as a search bait. Next, a jig and pig around docks and cover then back off a bit and fish a worm, lizzard or tube slowly. Thats just my .02... Tight lines, Snag
  11. Would have to be a 7" power worm (blue fleck), white spinner bait and baby bass rat l trap. Later, Snag
  12. My girlfriend belongs to some other forum and there was something on there about fish finders. It said the sonar sends out waves that pick up on the air bladders in fish thus marking fish on your screen. I can believe that. Then it says the fish can actually feel those waves...Is this true?? Wouldn't that spook the fish? This is the first time I have heard anything like that so I thought I would come to the best forum to get the right answer. Tight lines, Snag
  13. Everybody asks me how I get away with fishing so much without the little lady getting upset. Well, I'm gonna let the cat out of the bag.... I set the alarm for 5:00 am, tap her on the shoulder and say fishing or s-x? She says take a sweater, it might be cold. lol..... Snag
  14. On Detroit River and St. Clair River I have always done well on green pumpkin, green pumpkin/red fleck or anything in a goby color. Venom has tube with a color I do not know the name of but it is a brown/rust color with orange and gold fleck. I'll look in my tube box and see if I can find the color. Hook 'em hard, Snag
  15. Not about fishing, but a funny one. Two guys were duck hunting one day and they shot a swan. Just then the game warden came up and said you can't shoot those. The one man said, I'm sorry I didn't know that, I shoot one of these everytime I come out; they are soooo good. While the game warden is writting the ticket he asks the man, so what does swan taste like anyway? The man looks at him and says.........Kinda like Bald Eagle.. He then had to go to the ER to get his foot out of his mouth....lol ;D
