X Rap

Featured Replies

Just wondering who all likes the X Rap Slash Style Bait? How are they rated up against a Pointer?

I have them and love them. I cant compare them to the pointers but I'm sure they're just as good if not better.

I've done a lot better with a Pointer than an X-Rap. Fishing them in the exact same situations the Pointer has caught more.

Try a search on this topic, it's been discussed several times.

Xrap's are a great jerk bait, with many good colors to chose from.  Smallies can't stay away.

Jake, have you found much difference between the pointer and the live pointers?

I didn't see anything comparing the two in a search for pointers and xraps?

Hey, I live not too far from you and my tournament partner and I have done good on the x-raps when we're fishing for smallmouths in lakes around you. If we're targeting largemouth we usually go to a pointer or rogue. Looking forward to trying the McSticks though this year.

I haven't tried any Live Pointers because a lot of people say they have durability issues with the wire connecting the segments. I stick with the regular Pointers.

The search isn't working on my computer, but just try searching "Pointer X Rap" and a lot of jerkbait threads come up.

If you haven't tried both, how could you be sure that one is better than the other?

Anyway... I agree with Jake. I would take a pointer over an xrap any day of the week. I can't tell you how many times I've been fishing with a friend who was using xraps while I was using a pointer. Whenever they see me pull out the pointer they usually start telling me how ridiculous it is to pay $15-20 for a lure and how an xrap works just as well. Almost every time this happens within an hour or two they're asking me if they can borrow one of my pointers. The finishes on pointers are so much more realistic than Xraps imo and in clear water situations the pointers really outshine xraps. This is just my opinion based on my experience with both lures however I would sugest that anyone who hasn't tried a pointer do so if its within their budget.

The X-Rap is very effective when the bass are active.

The Pointer is more consistant.
