:o    what can you use to find out when bad weather is coming for you.  I get stuck in bad weather all the time and I am getting tired of it.  I heard Radio Shack makes a portable weather station but would it work for me?

find a book which is called Largemouth bass which is made by scientific anglers it shows you the cloud formations and what they mean and whats ahead and how good the weather is going to be also it might be on the internet

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by bad weather, are you talking about safety, or comfort?

If you are talking about safety, a storm big enough to cause problems should be noticed by the folks that watch those things early enough for you to plan arond it.

If you fish big water, a weather radio may be a very good idea.

If you are talking comfort, it may be a good idea just to carry rain gear.  I try to keep good gear, including a waterproof wide brim hat in my boat.

As I age, I never go out on the lake anymore without raingear. I have gone out in the morning clear as a bell and then by 11:00 it is pouring rain for 20 min. then sun again.

It's always best to go prepared.

Yep with age...lol  He melts when he gets wet.  We learned that when they say chance of rain is 20%...with our luck it will be 100%  It always rains on us if there is a small chance of it...lol

I know what you mean. I have been caught on the lake when a thunder storm came out of nowhere. I carry a handheld VHF radio in the boat. It has the weather station on it & will beep me when the weather is changeing so I can get the update. Most of the guides carry them & have base stations so if I get in trouble & have to get to safty in a hurry I can let someone know where I am at. They are a good investment. If you fish on big water don't leave home without one.
