Goin' fishin

Recommended Posts

Well, I must be living right.  last weekend my 19 yr old daughter went fishing with me (yes, 19 yr old daughter) Last night my 22 yr old son asked if I wanted to go fishing this saturday! :)

(It might have something to do with the bass we caught together 3 weeks ago on 5 inch weightless Senkos.  PS:  First time we ever fished Senkos ;D

I'm 50 and still think I am a neophyte fisherman!!  Just wish I could go ut and consistently catch  those darn fish ;D

As long as you get to go out and spend some time with the family doing something you like. What more could you ask for?

I know, for you those darn fish. For me, kids that could keep there lines out of trees so dad could actually fish.:D

I still fall under this category.  "Son, there is no way you can cast under those tree limbs."

"Yeah I can dad, and besides, thats where I'm gonna catch a 6-pounder, watch"....

"Dad...can you motor the boat over to those limbs so I can free my line?"

Yeah, kids are great. I could take them fishing at a farm pond in a field with ONE tree 60 yds behind the pond. You know right where the line is going.  ::) Gotta love em!

My son is 8.  When we fish, I continually tell him that getting his bait hung is OK (and the noises he can't seem to help making) because I want it to be fun for him.  He always reads the irritation in my face, however.  I try to be patient, but the involuntary disgust is evident.  He always wonders why I always bring home stories and/or photos of big fish when he doesn't go and we only catch dinks or none at all when he goes with me ;D

Ceph,

I know the look! :-/<That yellow guy is using it. In a way though I guess it makes me happy because it's there lures and not mine. You know. "Wow! Dad must be a pro, he never gets hung up!" If I could actually fish when they are around, they would know better. :o;)

Phishn,

Hey, ya never know. Your son could become the next Bill Gates and buy ya all the phishn buddies (sexy ones in camo bikini's even) that ya want or need! :o ::)

My son(14 yr old) won't go fishing. He thinks it's boring(poor kid).On the other hand, he loves deer hunting, which I find boring.I take him all the same just so we can do things together.By the way,I have the same feeling about my fishing.I've been skunked a few times.

I've got a 6 y.o. nephew who loves going  fishing with me.  Actually, he likes to fish for about 5 minutes, then he starts looking for other stuff to do.

When I catch a bass, I'll hand him the reel and let him pull it in. Then I'll put it in the livewell (even if it's short). He spends the next couple of hours checking on the fishies and watching them swim around.

Of course I always toss them all back before leaving. I spose I'd get a ticket if I ever got pulled over with a short bass in the live well, but it's worth the risk keeping him entertained for hours.
