Good day, I am knew to this site.  I have been a fly fishing guide for trout in Colorado for 10 years and I just recently moved 'back' to Kansas.

I have been back for a year and just now finding time to start fishing again!  I use to bass fish quite often when I was a resident.  99% of was in private watersheds, now I do not have access like I used to so I am getting pumped up for some REAL fishing on this great states public waters!!!!

I just sold my dory and purchased a used bass boat and I can't wait to start learning about all the new techniques and baits that have surfaced over the last 10 years.  This sure looks like the place to learn a few things.

Thanks in advance for all the future advice I plan on sucking out of this site!

Happy releasing,

HydrillaGorilla

No need to give up Fly fishing.  Fly fishing for bass  is getting quite popular here in lakes and ponds.  Since we don't have running streams.  You probably have the equipment.  Welcome  :D

Muddpuppy- not giving up fly fishing!  Just burned the heck out dealing with stuck up and just plain rude idiots that I had to take and basically teach to fish for trout every day.  After 10 years with strings as long as 40 days without a day off it starts to take a toll on a fella!

I am looking forward to enjoying fishing once again.  I have been out a couple of times with my old gear and really enjoyed doing it!....in my opinion...old school.  I think in a few years I will be able to fly fish again....but not guide or teach.

Please do not take this post wrong....It was not meant to be pointed or anything.

I am interested in catching some of those huge resivoir carp via fly rod though.  I want to figure out how to find them on the flats in a clear lake where you can see them and sight fish to them.  It sounds like a blast!  Those jokers get around 20lbs or larger in some watersheds!  YEeeeeHaaaaawww.

Thanks to all already.  This is my first 'forum' attempt and you guys are great!  I look forward to chatting with you all!

Here is to a great summer of foolin bass!

Happy Releasing,

HydrillaGorilla

Mulberry imitation flies= big carp.   when the mulberry bushes develop berries along the shore, the carp cant get enough of them.  Good luck!
