Hello all. I know next to nothing about bass fishing and I am gathering research on the subject...I was wondering and looking for some of your responses...

Do bass fisherman distinguish themselves greatly from fly fisherman in terms of attitude or priorities in the sport? Do any of you do both? Do you have a preference and why?

Could you talk about a favorite fishing product you own? Are there any products you own that you would like to see improved?

Lastly, where (geographically) do you fish?

hey researcher, fishing is a way of life for most of us here,

its more then a sport, it gives alot of satisfaction, from tying a knot. to cleaning a 500lb bluefin. I fly fish for salmon,steelhead,false albacore,trout/drum/stripers/shad/and bass, but casting out to a lay down with a plastic worm early in the morning with a spin rod is just as much fun as hooking a salmon on my fly rod. been fishing for over 40 years. and love it all, you never stop learning. alot like golf, lol. there's always more to learn. not knowing anything about fishing is gonna be hard for you to understand where most people are coming from, we can be a sick bunch. lol.

I fish all over, up state new york in the fall for salmon steelhead, 24th year comin up.

I live in Raleigh nc, and fish falls lake for bass here in Raleigh.

I fish the smith river in va for trout.

the Roanoke for stripers in the spring.

the nc coast for false albies.drum,cobia,and specs.

Yo mr researcher I fish mostly for largedmouth bass in NE PA and some upstate New York 90% of the time I fish lakes,ponds,strippinpits and impoundments for largemouth and the other 10% of the time I also include some river fishing for smallies, bream ,pike and pickerel. I use plastic worms in greens or black and various wooden plugs. My favororite equipment are my 2 rods and reels For worms: a 6 1/2 ft. med action fenwick spining rod with a mitchell 308X reel and for my wooden plugs same rod but with a pfluger trion reel Both thses setups are beautiful and get a lot of work with out breaking. One question since you do research on fishing do you get paid a scale wage :

No, The priorities of both fly fishing and bass fishing are exactly the same, catch large fish, the bigger the better in most cases.  The attitude is also all the same, Bass fishermen give Fly fisherman respect, and visa versa.

Yes, I enjoy both fly fishing and bass fishing equally, both have there goods, and bads.

Could you talk about a favorite fishing product you own?

My Favorite product (s) are the wide variety of plastic fishing lures. All of them are the same base (plastic,salt..) But each has its on feal, and catches fish diferently.

Are there any products you own that you would like to see improved?

I'm pretty sure its almost impossible, but i would love to see a fishing line that has ZERO memory for spinning spools. That would be awsome

I fish in mideastern PA.

Well I fish for mostly smallmouth bass, I fish the "Mecca" of smallmouth bass fisheries, the Tennessee River Chain. About the Fly Fisherman thing I would say there's no difference in us except the way we fish. We are all here for one thing and that is the enjoyment and the betterment of out sport. Id say all sportsman hunters or fisherman have a sortove a mutual respect for each other, the only way I can explain it is if someone cuts infront of me and they have a B.A.S.S. sticker on their car it doesn't bother me as much, I really don't know why but its doesn't. You also have to understand that we are all here to make sure our sport lasts because there are alot of people that want to see it go we all have to "be on the same team" I guess you could say. Fishing id say for most of us that are on the site is not as much as a recreational activity as it is a way of life. And if you look at some of the posts you'll realize this isn't your grandpas fishing anymore. We don't wait for the fish with a bobber, we find them with lures.

No.  We like to fish both ways and bass fishermen do fish both ways.  Fly fishermen may think they have an "upscale" profile as many do not fish from a bass boat and they can dress funny but fishing is fishing, even if you are fishing from the bank or standing in the water.

My bass boat.  Improve - Yes.  A  totally flat surface for the rear area of the bass boat so the person fishing in the back of the boat has less chance of missing a step and falling overboard.  

Many bass boats, including the Rangers, have a drop down area by the motor which can prove hazardous if you are not watching your step in the back of the boat while fishing.

If you where asking about a specific aspect of angling I could understand but you couldn't have been more vague.
