Here is what I have going on here. I am new to bass fishing all I have ever done was nightcrawlers and a bobber, now I am trying to get into using different lures.  I found a lake that is really clear and has a lot of what I am guessing is hydrilla, I have had great success in this lake whith my flyrod on the bream but I am constantly seeing atleast 3lb bass swimming they seem interested but they swim off but always in the area. I tried throwing a blackworm texas style but nothing and I also tried a baby torpedo black and white.  no hits what else should I try.

A original Rapala minnow. This bait is balsa and will be easy to fish around hydrilla. It is also silent and mimics a baitfish well.

try useing a weedless jig in the weeds

or a crank right on the weed edge

You can ask 100 fishermen that and get 100 different answers.  Try the black worm, but fish it weightless.  Cast it out and work it slowly with gentle twitches of the rod tip.

I'd have to agree with rebbasser, you'll get a 1oo different answers from 100 different fishermen.

And what works for some in certain situations may not work for someone else.

The best advice I've been given is to spend time fishing with different lures and presentations and NEVER GIVE UP!!!!!

Try a spinnerbait there easy to use. throw it were you want it and just reel it in anyone can do it.

Since the lake is really clear I would use more natural colors. I usually use black when the water is stained. Try colors like green and brown. Try matching the hatch. If you see alot of minnows try those colors.

You also need to back off a little. Don't fish right on top of where the fish are. Reels have all that line on them for a reason.

I would start trying 5" Senkos wacky style. Throw out past the strike zone, let 'em sink, then lift the rod tip real high to lift the bait close to the top of the water then let 'em sink again. Repeat this several times. Fish this SLOWLY!!! Baby Bass Senkos are an outstanding color in clear water. Konami baits makes them, Yamamoto's son's company so they are the same thing.

If you have a lot of lily pads, I have great success running inline buzzbaits over and around the pads. Give them a try also!!

My first suggestion was going to be to use a 4" Senko, but I think the spinnerbait is the best bait to start with.  They work really well and are very easy to fish.  The other 10,000 lures that you absolutely MUST have, will come in time.........He..He...He... bm
