I'm the Weighmaster!

Featured Replies

I have a question for any club tournament fisherman who help out with or run weigh-ins for their clubs.  I have seen people wear gloves with rubberized palms when handling fish.  Is it better for the fish (slime coating) with wet gloves like those mentioned or just wet hands?  My partner and I volunteered to run every weigh-in this year for our club.  I just want to make sure I am informed well on this topic.  I have done weigh-ins before, but thought I would ask anyway.  Thanks for any input.

It 's not better for the fish, it 's better for your hands.

i was talking to one of the weigh guys and he said he wore them because of the smell left on his hands... he also said he had a few "frantic" ones and he didnt get finned anymore

Everlast makes some nice protective head gear, LOL

I would wear them to keep my hands from getting chewed up.  I would say the gloves being wet would be better

Yeah, getting a fin in the finger is not only painful but it can get infected fairly easily. Those fish carry some bacteria. No kidding.I know a guy who got a fin under the fingernail and by the next day his whole finger swelled up like he smashed it with a hammer and he got some weird bacteria infection and had to get a shot and some pills to help him out. :o
