Okay! Its happened! I've officially acquired more tackle than I know what to do with! Last weekend, a buddy and his dad had a "rummage sale" of baits they no longer need. I was like a kid in a candy store. Unfortunately (it could be worse), I now haven't enough room for it all. And I'm having a tough time dealing with the thought of purchasing more boxes/tacklebags/etc. just to accommodate more stuff. But I know, next year I'll suffer greatly when I have to leave something home. If I were on a safari, I could hire some native dude to carry it all for me. Maybe that's what I need to do-buy a pith helmet and go on safari! :

There is only one way to solve that..... buy bigger boxes ---> Buy a bigger boat -----> buy a bigger house to store the boat.... Easy as that  ;D

I know how you feel.  I keep buying stuff, and i put it on the peg board of "extras" and most of it never makes it into the boat.

Gotcha...Here's how I handle it:

I have a small storage room in my garage. One wall is for rods, one

has pegboard half way down with floor based shelving occupying the

other half and another half wall. This is where I store my "reserves"

in Plano boxes.

I have two hard boxes for line, tools and collectibles so they resemble

a usable tacklebox. Next is a XPS 3600 soft tackle bag where I have

organized everything I might possibly use on a trip. Finally, a

12 X 8 box that opens on both sides and built with dividers. This is the

box I actually take on the boat with stuff I plan to fish on a particular

outing.

I also carry a "man bag" with accessories: scale, camera, gloves,

emergency rain gear, KVD Lure & Line Conditioner, extra knives,

lighter, clippers, etc.

In the end, I still end up fishing what I have tied on and rarely open

the box except for soft plastics. You mentioned 10 lures that you use;

that would be a high number for me.

i have like 20 types of soft plastics i bring with me, but i only use like 1 or 2. :-[

My girlfriend laughed at me (not with me) when I had all my stuff spread out on the table (and floor) trying to figure out how to organize everything.  It's all now put away but I'm not satisfied that I've distributed everything to it's optimum advantage.  I've tried to make it so I can leave one or two boxes in my boat but still can carry everything else I need when I walk to a pond or to the river.  All my smallmouth baits and flyfishing flies/poppers are in a backpack for easy carrying.

Just for the record, I'm not really complaining.  It's all part of the game.  I remember a time when I had a couple beetle spins, a Lazy Ike passed down from a great uncle, and some rusty bait hooks and that was about it.

I have the same problem as well.  I have a ton of lures, but when I head out...I only use a few.  There's only a few lures I use all the time, but I seem to rack up a ton of lures that I hardly ever use.

Ease your mind, you don't need to fish them all.

About every year I'll acquire a new favorite bait (or bait type) which "necessitates" the acquisition of more stuff.  I'm sure I could somehow survive with what I have but as Roadwarrior writes, it's a collection as much as it is a fishing tool.  Really, it's both for me.  I don't drink or smoke so I have to find some way to spend my money.
