Goin fishin in an hour just noticed something QUES

Featured Replies

Hey I was just about to leave to fish a couple of small but productive ponds from the shore. I looked through my log and I noticed that 8 timesexactly 1/2 hour before a thunderstrom , right up to the time the storm sytarted i WAS LITERALLY CATCHING FISH ON AT LEAST EVERY OTHER CAST . Has anyone noticed this, does it only happen on smaller bodies of water? Im gonna wait an hour there are storms heading this way in the next 2 hours I cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!

YES!

Some of my very best days "pond hopping" have been just before a storm. Be careful, when it gets close it's time to head for the barn.

Bass get excited when low pressure comes around (ie. rain). RW is right though, be carefull when fishing near storms.

Thanks much got the rods and the SENKOS in the car and a couple of other plastics Hey RW livining In New Orleans for 6 yrs taught me a lot of respect for lightning NOT ENOUNGH IF THERES A PB ON THE LINE

PS if Ben Franklin was so smart why did he fly a kite during a thunderstorm?

Sorry couldnt resist a long time ago My Dad asked me that question I had to make sure thats what he really said, he said it in Italian My Brother and I laughed till we dropped and my old man was watin for an answer!!!

When Ben Franklin flew his kite he only theorized the properties of lightening. Today we know the properties of lightening.

Iknow that George but if you knew my dad while he was still with us You could really apreciate how funny that question was. Any way no storms and lots of Dinks But it was a fun 2 hours Im off to a meeting Thanks for all your help

I personally have noticed that in the bigger lakes as well, the fish go on a frenzy before the storms arrive, espcially on the edge of weeds that are deeper but excessible to shallow water, i guess mother nature tells animals that they should fuel up before hand or else they might be hungry util however long the bad weather lasts, just my .02

i have noticed this too, they seem to bite good durring and just after a thunder storm as well(i wouldnt recomend fishing durring, iv done it, not cool.)

that definately happens a lot. on all different sizes of water too.

Last year we made a 1 acera pond and stocked it this year. We stocked it with 50 largemouth, 100 perch, 100 bluegill and 1000 minnows. I have also added a total of 27 fish from other waters(mostly ponds). This includes bass, perch, bluegill and catfish. When we feed them with the pellets its like parinias eating meat :). Anyway, if i go fish it before a storm the hits will be crazy and non stop.

Throw a black buzzbait if there is a slight wind and little ripples over the water. The bigs ones love it.

I landed a 6 lb largemouth doing this, along with many other nice bass.

Live to fish, fish to live

I've got some public ponds near my area, fished like crazy.  But you better bet I keep my eye on the weather channel (radar).  Even with all the fishing pressure, right before a storm, (the bigger the better), fish just go wild, especially those afternoon thunderboomers, man they'll bite anything when they get like that.

I have noticed that too. I fish many farm ponds where i live and the bite always picks up a lot.     So how did you do?

Hey Nate well first of all I grabbed the wrong bag and only had a couple of Zoom trick woms and small senko knockoffs the storms never hit IT WAS DINK CITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I was grateful just to be away from the office and out there fishin

That sucks but a day of fishing beatsd a day of working any day.
