Any one use a hand held GPS to mark spots????  If so what kind do you have.  I am looking to upgrade mine and would like some feedback

I have a Magellan Meridian Gold that I have used for about 2.5 years and I like it very much. I upgraded the memory chip and bought the Magellan Map software. The only thing I do not like is once you load an area you can't delete it from the chip so in order to have detailed maps of many areas you may need more memory chips. This is not a problem if you are using it for a state or two but if you load SoCal like I did and move to North Carolina and try to load that you may have a memory problem. All it takes is more chips. By the way, the memory chips are 3 times the price ifyou buy them from Magellan. Buy them at an electronics house like Fry's.

If I were to do it over I would buy the Magellan with the color screen and the barometric pressure monitor.

I have a Magellan Meridian Platinum. I bought it a couple of years ago and it works great. I have marked some fishing spots on it. It's waterproof and it floats which is a big plus when dealing with any kind of water activity. You should have seen the first day I had it...I just chucked it into a pool to make sure it did float and was water proof! Sure enough it floats and it kept on ticking. It gets the job done nicely. I have since heard that Garmin makes better products but the Magellan works just fine. But I have not verified that myself.

I did have a Garmin gpsmap76s great little handheld now they have them in color with the 2.5 inch screen. I recently upgraded to the gpsmap 378 3.8 inch screen. This is the best gps I have ever dealt with. Contours on 3500+ lakes built in. You can also hook sonor up to it if you want along with XM Weather it come with a car mount and a boat mount. Very accurate but kinda costly. I would suggest http://www.gpsnow.com/  they are super great to deal with and lots cheaper than you can buy I the stores. I have bought 3 gps from them and a friend has purchased 2 You really cant beat these guys for service.
