Need Advice....

Featured Replies

I've got a tourney this weeked on a River in the NE part of NC... Not getting a chance to prefish and any advice that you might offer will help!

Conditions:

Water Temp: mid 50's to upper 50's

Water Clarity: Murky (dark, but not muddy)

Air temp: ~50-58

Supposed to be a clear, sunny day

What do you think I should throw, and what types of locations would you concentrate on (has all types of structure)?

I would focus on minnow like lures: In low light: Jerkbaits (Lucky Craft Pointer, Rapala Husky Jery & X-Rap); later in the morning, Rat-L-Traps (Yo-Zuri Ratl'N Vibe & Drum, Lucky Craft LVR 300 & LVR-Max-500). Midday: Fat Ika, Senko, tube, GYCB Hula Grub and jigs. In deeper water: a DD22 and a 3/4 oz Ledgebuster Single Willowblade Spinnerbait are other options I would try.

I focus on structure, in current and in deeper water.

RW said it pretty well but in my area and with those conditions I would throw a trap all day and just change the way I fished them as the day wore on.

Around here drop shotting in the submerged brushpiles is working well -- try using a "fluke type" bait on your DS rig.
