Lake Fork-Advanced scouting

Featured Replies

For all of you attending the BassResource.com Lake Fork trip I found out this week that things are going to work out for me and a buddy to head down then the weekend of Feb. 23-26, so I will try to do some advance scouting for you guys.  I figure when we are there a lot of fish will be staging in their pre spawn locations, so hopefully I can share some info on where they will be spawning.  I'm really hoping the weather will stay nice enough that there will be some fish already moved up on beds by late Feb.  Either way, I hope to have at least one sharelunker out of the water by the time you all arrive.

I hope you catch a couple, just not them all!

Just one in the double digits will make the whole trip worth it.

Get us some GPS Waypoints if you can and thanks for your willingness to help.

I will try to do that.  My buddy has the Lake Fork hotspots map in his GPS.   We are debating hiring a guide for the first day that we are down there.  It's a lot of money, but if it puts us on fish so we know exactly where to go the rest of the trip it might be worth it.

Hawgin, without a doubt, hire a guide. If you have never been there, you will be overwhelmed with that place. Especially now that the water level is back up (YAHOO), every spot you look at looks like it should have fish. By that time you will have pre-spawn AND spawning fish. If you don't hire a guide, PM me and I will give you what I know. I've been going down there 2-5 times a year since 1990. Was there between Christmas and New Years and did pretty well. Will be down again last week of Jan. and sometime in mid March.

Maybe you can get the BR Fork trip guys to give you 10 bucks a piece to hire a guide and then give them the info ;)

Good Luck

Guys is it safe to say that by March 5-9 the fish will be in a full swing spawn?

That can't be predicted just yet, you don't know of the weather changes that can shut down a spawn for weeks.

Last years spawn on Fork as witnessed by Russ and others during the later half of March was on hold due to a two week long storm.

Rains and Cold Fronts shut everything down.     Mother Nature holds the keys!!
