I Need Advice!

Featured Replies

I like to fish, I am 15, but I only go about 2 times a year. But, there is a pond full of snakes and a few fish. Should I fish there and get bit but catch a few fish, or should I try to find a different pond?

ha ha, is this a real question :o

if there are snakes anywhere close, i'd be hightailing it out of there and finding new water!!

I would wear boots and take a chance with the snakes (depending on what kind of snakes).

You never know, there might be a big lunker in that pond!

find a good cheap jon boat... You don't need a motor, for that matter a trolling motor is not really needed. You could paddle, i done this for years before I got a boat with a motor on it.

if you can't get a boat, I would get some good snake boots and fish all I can, just cause snakes are there doesn't mean there are no fish.

Just pay attention to your surroundings and try not to fish near bushes or anything if it means having to cast 5 extra feet to were you wanted to cast. Just stay smart and you wont get bit.

man just get ya a little john boat or a canoe or a ghenoo or however u spell it or maybe even a pedal boat. or u could do like my uncle did and get ya one of those big hunks of styrofoam u see floating on the river and use it like a boat man just dont worry about the snakes unless they r cotton mouths i have had those come see me to find out what i was catching.

snake bite or catch a fish?  Find a new lake where you are not constantly worried about getting bit.

Something must be wrong with me. When I go to the lake all I WANT to do is get bit ;):D

Depending on the type of snake that is in and around this pond, I would say look for a new place to fish and while you are doing it fish the place that you have.  Just use some common sense and you should have no problems with snakes.  Now if those snakes have venom in them then go somewhere else and stay away from that pond.

There aren't many ponds in the southern US that don't have some snakes around. Most are harmless, non-venomous kinds.  One of the most common hanging around ponds is the banded water snake.  While they can be aggressive at times, they aren't poisoness and won't bother you unless you provoke them.

Get yourself some gaiter leggings and leather boots and go fish.
