is it just me or is the host of this show a bafoon? he made a comment, and i quote "these helium rods will increase your catch ratio tremendously". he then proceeded to miss more than 50% of his fish. why do guys like this have their own shows?

Buffoon might be a little harsh.  Isn't he the guy that is credited with designing the EWG hooks?  At least we know he doesn't edit out everything negative.

I think his name is Charley Ingram, he was/is a pro on the tours with average (?) results. His show is 90% advertising; his sponsors pay him to do just that, and he whants to make a lot of money. So when his show starts, I am  changing the channel!!!!! ;D

Two FLW wins and four BASS wins.  Maybe that is average results to some, would think that lots of pros wouldn't mind having six wins at that level.  Heck, lots of guys would like to win six club tourneys in their time.  Don't want to get into a p and v contest with anyone.  Having said that, I agree with the statement about the shows anymore.....seems like an infomercial these days.

i actually enjoy his show he had someone  from foodsource lures on a few weeks ago   and it was a quality show....i think what he meant by the hook up ratio with the rods was you would feel more bites   equaling to more fish

His show sucks.  I've said this before.  The guy is unwatchable.  His show is all about product placement.   He endorses Carolina Lunder Sauce, Spro, Kistler Rods, Ranger boats, and a ugly a*s Honda motor on the Ranger, ruined the d**n boat if you ask me.

Next year, he will switch products, he seems to do that every 2 years.  He doesn't teach anything, he just fishes and shows only catches and like someone said above... a lot of misses.  His guests on the show, usually out fish him from the back of the boat.

Also, if you pay attention to some of the things he says, he totally has no idea what he is talking about when it comes to the products he endorses.

I made a post about similar issues about a week ago.   It makes me sick that most fishing shows on these days are nothing but a 30minute infomercial.  You gotta check out the bass pros sometime.  IMO it's the best show going right now.

Because networks will show them and people will watch and advertisers will pay.

Charley does go overboard when it comes to blatant and gratuitous promotion, but he's been on TV for a long time. There must be a reason.

I just caught this show Friday morning for the first time when I took a sick day from work.  Seems like a pretty good show, I'll be setting the recorder for this program to see if it turns out to be a good one.

I've been recording them on DVR but lately I have only been getting reruns -- apparently they only made about 5 or 6 shows, but they are excellent.

Almost like Marty said. Advertisers will pay, networks will show and people will watch. The options are reruns of the likes of Pettycoat Junction and the Beverly Hillbillies.

Yes fishing shows tend toward infomercials. The sponsers foot the bill to produce the shows and the advertisers put the shows on the air. If sponsers and advertisers don't increase sales it is back to sentence two paragraph one.

I am ready for some reruns of Gadabout Gaddis.
