well the bass are off the beds....

Featured Replies

for the most part at least... there are still a few hanging around the beds but I can't seem to tick them off or spark their interest and I can't catch the ones that have moved out, any suggestions? water seems semi-warm and there is grass, moss, algae, stumps, logs, points, shelves, drop offs, rocks, almost a lil' of everything... I've noticed that the algae and moss is growing over where the beds were a week ago so I assume that they've moved off those ones, right? I tried a lizard, a tube, a minus 1 and even a devils horse right on top of the beds and got nothing but one bass under a tree on a lizard t-rigged >:(.... please advise... 8-)

p.s. presentation and approach advice is encouraged :D

anyone?

I went out last night again, attacked the lilly's, stumps, flats, rocks, and drop offs with spinnerbaits, Bass assassin's and a t-rigged doubled tailed watermelon lizard but to no prevail.  I really think they're just not interested in anything at all, my presentations and rigging is flawless... please don't hesitate with ideas...

I'm having the same problem right now! I see some spawned out fish around but they wont bite only the odd one. I think it will get better in a couple of weeks. There is probably just to much food around.

I would stay in the spawning areas.

Try some deeper water adjacent to the beds.

good luck and have fun

Hi, "finicky fish" Trap a few live minnows or if not there buy a couple live "food" goldfish at local pet store.

Rig on a float/ half depth-(keep them off bottom), clip top 1/2 of tail with scissors. Use 6-8 lb fluorocarbon leader, & be patient.

If they refuse this "offer they can't refuse" They're:

A. Not there

B. Sick

C. Too full and lethergic.

D. Just showing you destain--they're wise to your hook.

E. All of the above.

When the visible spawn dies off, cast that next step down in depth .  Echoing Avid, move it deeper.  The temps where those beds are will be slightly behind the ones in shallower water because of light penetration and will spawn a bit later.  High odds that your numbers will drop and your size will increase.

When the post spawn starts kicking, it can be tough but rewarding if you pull yourself away from the easily targeted post spawners and keep targeting those deeper fish.

try a buzzbait. a friend and i killed them today on them. we caught 2-3 pounders out of a pond only known for half pounders.  they loved em. i think it may work for you. we caught them all shallow over weeds and stuff. bass that were hiding under the weeds would explode up at them. most fun way ive ever fished
