My older brother and a birthday gift

Featured Replies

Not sure if this is the proper place to post an introduction, but here I go.

Last summer on numerous occasions my brother asked me to go fishing with him.  I would always decline because I thought it was boring .  To be honest the only fishing I had ever done before was as a child, and all I can recall was watching bobbers and catching bluegill.

Fast forward 20 years and I finally give in and go fishing with my brother, sometime in early September 2006 we went bass fishing.  I didn't catch a fish that first time, the next weekend I caught my first bass.  It was small, but it was my first bass!  My birthday was the next week and my brother got me a rod and reel.  I was hooked (literally.)

I used to spend my free time at the computer playing online games, or watching sports on TV.  Now all I think about is the lake, and fishing.  The wildlife, waves crashing the shoreline, I forget about my job and just relax into a calm.  I really enjoy it and it's what I look forward to doing.  I never would have thought I would like it so much, or that it would become my new hobby.

My brother and I catch and release every fish we catch, I've read a few posts here on the topic.  I am new and know next to nothing about bass populations on lakes and what to do.  Personally I have no desire to kill any fish, we just put them back and keep fishing.

I will have probably have a few questions to ask now and then, will use search to look for answers.  Great site and great forums, learned a lot already.

Welcome Wurm, ask away, you're at the right place to learn.

This place is definely a good place to ask questions and learn. Before you'll know it you will understand all different types of bait usage and how to work them to catch some good size bass.

It gets even more addicting from this point on. ;)

I agree.

One of the better introductions.

welcome and please feel free to post any questions you may have.

Greeting's Everyone!!

I am Wurm's Brother.  It's true in every aspect of his post.

I did have to beg and plead to get him to go with me that

first time late last summer.

We grew up very close to a State Park.  We practically spent

our summers there, riding bike trails, swimming, hiking, and

of course fishing.  Whatever we could think of, we did it.  Our

parents live a short bike ride from the park.  As kid's, naturally

this was our mode of transportation.

Wurm and I usually meet at our parent's house every Sunday.

We head to the park and take advantage of the beautyful weather

that God blesses us with and fish from early afternoon untill early

dusk.  Being that the State Park was responsible for it's share of

raising us, we have grown to take advantage of the 327 acre lake's

better offering's in term's of Bass hot spots.

I never really gave up the fishing "Bug" over the years.  I slowed

down for quite a while to take an adventure in racing Motocross.

I have gone on several fishing adventure's over the years.  Canada,

Minnesota, several scattered lakes across the area.  During my racing

days, I never really had the time to go fishing.  I would spend the week

working and the weekend's racing.

A few years ago I had been blessed with the miracle of Fatherhood and the

adventure's that comes along with it.  Being a father changes your

outlook and visions.  I hung my helmet up and in return picked up my

fishing pole and got back into it.

Of all the places and all the fishing I've done over the years, I must say

that this time, Now, this moment, is the best.  Fishing with a sibling is

one of the best d**n fishing trips a person can take.  Only I'm lucky,

I get them weekly.

Thank's for telling me about this site Wurm!!
