fish growth

Featured Replies

I realize it will vary from lake to lake and region to region. But what is the average rate a LMB grows. For example how many years would it take to reach x pounds or inches? Anyone?

You answered your question with your first statement.

I just did some checking around and pretty much verified what I thought I had read in the past. If you would like an over all average, it"s about 1 lb per year. However like has already been mentioned there are lots of factors that will cause that to vary considerably.

If you would like to type in the search term on google growth rate large mouthbass and you will have several choices of sites that have a lot of sientific info.

It will take them many years to get big if they are in my lake here in FL :'(

Man BK get that guy a hamburger and fries!

On the same note, if I were to get a bunch of finger mullet out of the bay and feed them to some bass in a little pond behind my house would they put on weight? However, once I stopped feeding them would they perhaps die because they wouldn't have the amount of food as they did when I was feeding them? It seems they are stunted in their growth, but I'd hate to somehow kill them all.
