UGH! :-(

Featured Replies

Decided to take my brother fishing up to the lake this afternoon.  He's kinda new to bass so i was going to teach him.  Soon as we went  to the only place without any weeds to tangle us up we saw literally, all the fish that was in the lake dead on top of the water.  There were hundreds of dead bass.  No one sprays at the lake, it's run by the sportsman club.  We went over to another good spot with some fallen tree's and such and some weeds and all the weeds were matted down and all the fish over there too were all dead!  This sucks!  I don't know what could have happened that all those fish died over night because i was just there last night.  There's at least 10 huge grass carp in there could that have been it?

The grass carp have nothing to do with it! Sounds like poisoning to me?

that really sucks.  i know the sportsman club shy's away from putting anything into the lake and made it a rule last year.  It's a shame.  Nice private lake with some great fishing.......my brother said the local fire department came over yesterday and pulled some water out of the dam (that's what it is but its called "Cokeburg Lake").  d**n :-(

Fire departments use water from places like that to fight fires it coulda been your house!!!!

Those of us who were brought up on Long Island know that these things happen and are completely natural.

Every few years you would read about a pond in Southhampton town that suffered a massive fish kill.

I forget the reaons, but it has to do with fertilizer, road run off, sunlight etc, creating a bloom or altering the ph dramtically.

Avid that is currect. In NC if you build anything that has a parking lot you have

to have a retention pond for all the runoff. This is helping our rivers and streams

alot. Those who are building don't like it but it is a good law. ;)

I'm not gonna lie if i saw that i'd turn around and either go home or to another lake.I'd be sick seeing a bunch of dead fish all over the place.

yes i know the fire department needs water to fight fire im not stupid.  they have their own "dam" so to say they take water out of and its not down or drained............
