BASS membership

Featured Replies

It's almost comical I got a thing in the mail saying my BASS membership is almost ready to run out. Re-up now to save blah blah blah. I noticed last year too but my memberhship doesn't run out until november! I got a call a week later saying the price was going up or act now! Same exact tactic as last year. What are they going to do not take the price that thay just mailed me the coupon on?

I hate to re-new as I did last year in June and they didn't recognize that I had until Nov. In the mean time they called me about 8 times. I told them several times to quit calling or I would ask for my money back.

Mybye they figure if they try to drive you nuts you'll sign up for longer to give them no reason to call. If I didn't enjoy the magazine so much I'd cancel.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I got tired of it a few years ago and did the life membership.  That was before ESPN got ahold of it so it wasn't as bad as it is now.

They hounded me last fall after I had been a member for only 3 months.

Never had them call me, but I often get the "your membership is about to expire" deal in the mail.  I just ignore it until it's time to renew.

But Burley you were 9 months from almost geting canceled!  LOL

Never had this problem. Great organization. Just take it with a grain of salt. Most of the phone solicitors are not employees of BASS, but hired out phone centers I would think.

The phone solicitors are just doing their job, and at a pittance.  BASS hired them so you could yell at them, not BASS.  Many "great" organizations do this. ;)  I've never received a call from BASS to renew my membership.

I have had this happen to me three times over the course of my membership. I had to call them and they fixed it for me, and gave me back my paid months. But each time they explained it away as an oversight. It has happened to almost every member I have spoken to. I no longer subscribe to Bassmaster as a result. I bet if we get a poll together, it has happened to almost every long term member. Just my opinion, but it seems too much of a coincidence for this oversight to happen sooooooooo often.  You'd think they would realize that it causes them lost memberships. I sometimes wonder if the extra money they get is worth it?

I got tired of all the early re-newal mail a while back and did the Life Member thing.  Long before ESPN got involved and if it were today I doubt I would be a member, Period. Along those lines this is what happened to me recently.

A number of years ago I subscribed to another BASS publications called Bass Times.  It came time to re-new it and I kept putting it off because it was months till it expired.  Finally stroked the check and just barely after the check cleared the bank I get another re-newal notice.

I promptly wrote a slightly nasty note  on the re-newal form telling them to check their records and mailed it back in their "no postage" reply envelope and figured that was the end of it. I did feel better too. Much to my surprise a couple weeks later I get a letter from BASS thanking me for my "inquiry" and telling me that they had screwed up and the Bass Times publication was included in my Life Membership and they were refunding me all my money spent since the time I became a Life Member.  WOW.

I haven't gotten my refund check YET, but I did take the time to whip an order off to Cabela's for another Revo STX and plan to get it wet tomorrow.

I guess it sometimes pays to vent your frustration with some of these organizations.  Might get lucky as I did.

Short B maybe your Revo order ought to be to Bassproshops not Cabelas?

They did make it right and sent you money you didn't know you had coming. Just a thought.

I got a life time about 20 years ago and I never hear from them. They did'nt even let me know that my $10,000 accidental death policey was no longer any

good. What would have happend if I had gotten killed and did'nt know this. Man

I would have died a poor man. ;D

Appears you misunderstood my post. The refund is coming from B.A.S.S. and not BPS. The deal at Cabela's was sweetened just a tad with a $20 rebate too and Abu Garcia is also running a $10 rebate on the reels. Sure seems like a deal to me. Just fyi I have purchased 2 other Revo's all from BPS. Don't reckon they will miss this purchase. They "own" me already. ;D

Aren't B.A.S.S. and  Bass ( B.A.S.S.) Pro Shops one in the same?  I think I'm confusing Johnny Morris and Ray Scott thinnking they are one and the same. I'm confused - long day.

Oh well LOL

Senile - I don't care who hired the solicitors and for how much not my problem. If they call my house it is their job to have the info right. If Bass is not giving them the right info not my problem then they need to tell Bass not worth it. To call me 6 or 7 times after I already sent the money 6 mo's before is a hassle.

I almost cancelled just to keep them from caling it got to be a pain.

I have never had "bad" customer service from BASS.  I had to call them a couple weeks ago to claim a prize, I was one of the "instant winners" in the July/August issue.  They were really polite and took time to chit chat.  I also found out they are connected to Disney somehow.  Their phones go through Disney.  By the way, I won a BPS Pro Qualifier, Special Edition.  It has one more bearing then the ones in the BPS catalog.  Seems like a good reel, time will tell.  All of my BPS baitcasters have served me well.  I have had some for at least 5 years and they are outlasting my Curados with the same amount of maintenence.  Smoother then the Curados also, except for the Super Frees.

Just a Joke I think, Did the life member on NAHC because of the constant calls, and yep they left me alone. almost did the lifer on Bass but, I said wait a minute this is exactly what they want me to do. Bye BYe Bass.

I get 100% more out of Bass Resource ;D Heck I get info on how to trick out my Jon boat right here, build a lake and don't have to wait untill the next issue comes out ;D

I was a member of BASS for over 30 years.  ESPN screwed it up so I am no longer a member and will not be as long as ESPN owns BASS.

I have been a member for nearly 20 years and I was not gonna renew .... BASS has really gone in the toilet since ESPN .... nothing for the weekend fisherman.  They took my credit card number and renewed me automatically. Just another crooked business practice that makes me not want to be a member.

oh crap i just became a member of Bass on a yearly basis. whats a lifetime membership cost anyway?

i haven't got the rag yet nor any info,im also a member of north american fishing club and have been a member of nafc since 2005.
