Bass Weight?

Featured Replies

I caught 2 decent sized Lg Mouth Bass (for Northern Wisconsin) last weekend, but didn't have a scale with me.  Wondering if there was any type of formula using length and girth to get a weight.  If not, does anyone have any guesstimates on the weight of these?

1.  21" length, 17.5" girth

2.  19" length, 15" girth

21" by 17.5" = 7.57 lbs

19" by 15" = 5.31 lbs

However, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has published a chart that I find reonably accurate and far more conservative. Fat bass in FL, GA, TX & CA may weigh more, but "most" northern bass fit the estimates from the NY chart.

21" = 5 lb 7 oz

19" = 3 lb 15 oz.

I have that same chart roadwarrior. The weights on that chart are pretty darn close for the bass around here.

Those are very nice bass that any pro would love to have in their livewells if fishing in a tourney in your waters.

What was your secret baits?

The big one came off of an original Bagley Killer B in Chart off of a wind blown point in 3 ft of water.

The other one was a Texas rigged 3.25 Yum craw bug in Watermelon on a weed edge in 10ft of water.
