Need help on a small pond

Featured Replies

Recently i Went to my cousins ,he lives in a private neighborhood, in front of his neighborhood their is a show pond it is shaped like an "L" it has cattails at one corner, it has one rock bed , its not that deep, the waters kinda murky,  i've caught two 4 pounder bass and A 7 1/2 pound bass in the middle popping a white jig off the bottom, my cousin has caught a 1 pound bass on a rattle trap, and i caught 5 pound bass on a purple crankbait, and then we caught about 30 brim but now we went back two weeks later and they wont bite on ANYTHING. So if you could please help me, i'm very confused  :-/

Throw some Yamamoto Senkos. Any color will do. Get you some 5 inch ones T-rig it and fish it weightless.

The horizontal fall is a fish killer...the'll tatoo it!!!

I'm with file mob on this one.

Bass do that. One day you'll be hammering them, the next you'll catch nothing.  It just takes time and patience.

Maybe it was just a bad day for fishing.  Bass are not going to bite the same everyday.  If the weather is different or any number of factors that vary from one day to the next.

5 inch watermelon senko with black flake.  Whacky style or weedless.  either way, if a fish sees it, that fish is gunna be caught.  Or get a nice black skirted buzzbait and start fishing about an hour before sunset, until about an hour after sunset.  Target weedbeds and other above water structures.  On retrieve, give the buzzbait a little subtle jerk once or twice.

Boulder Todd

Try a zoom brushog in green pumkin color. When nothing bites I use it with success.  Check out the pic and the muddy water.

Depending on the water temperature, the bass may have gone deep for the cooler water and oxygen.

You may have to fish at sunrise and sunset when they are feeding.

Try a buzzbait or topwater; a finesse wacky rigged worm; a Senko rigged wacky; and keep throwing your spinnerbaits and crankbaits.

See what they want and where they are located.

If all else fails, throw a Rooster Tail.

Have fun.

Weather changes can really effect small ponds.  If there was a heavy rain prior to your last trip it could have caused the bass to shut down.   Stay at it and you catch them.  :)
