  1. I like Vicious Flurocarbon for all my swimbaits. I mainly throw the Spro BBZ-1 (4 inch) hardbaits and the Yum Money Minnows (Hollow bellied). I usually stick with 15 lbs. on the line. The biggest key to me is your rod and reel. Use a 7 to 7 1/2 ft MH to H rod with a fast tip. I like to REVO Wich by ABU GARCIA as my reel. Although a lot of my friends use a high speed reel to catch up with the fish and to reel up slack. If I live in CALI, fishing for those big hogs on a swimbait, I'd probably throw it on 20-25 lb. Line
  2. Just got some IMA Skimmers. I noticed that they have a split ring tied to them. My question is do you tie to the split ring or do you remove the split ring and tie directy to the bait? Are there advantages to using the split ring (action, etc.). Thanks, Brent Brannon Calhoun, GA
  3. Having a club tournament at the Big "G" the first Saturday in December. I have never fished this time of the year at "G". I'm pretty familiar with the lake locations. Any hints, tips, suggestions, etc., would be greatly appreciated. Brent Calhoun, GA

  5. Try a Dobyn's 7'3 MH 5 Power rod. Good backbone and a softer tip.
  6. The dobyns rods are excellent. I own about five of them and I also, have one Powell rods. Gary Dobyn's used to work with Powell Rods. His rods are very well balanced. Plus, they have a lifetime warranty with them. They have numerous tehnique specific rods in both spinning and baitcasting.
  7. I like to keep it simple. Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craws in Green Pumpkin and Watermelon Red Tomato. Also as a change-up, I'll throw the Yamamoto Creature Bait in Green Pumpkin with Black and Gold Flake.
  8. Spro Bronzeye Frogs are hard to beat.
  9. I'm looking for a weighted hook for a skinny bear swimbait. I use the small 5 inch with a paddle tail. I currently use a weighted Flutter hook 1/8 oz. The problem is the hook will continually slide out of the bait. If you have any suggestions to rig my bait better or know of where I can pick up some weighted hooks in the 1/8, 3/16, or 1/4 oz. range or anyother suggestions please contact me or leave reply on forum.. Thanks, Brent
  10. Planning on fishing Lake Neely Henry in Gadsden, AL next weekend. This is my first trip there. If anyone has any tactics, lures to be used, or general information, I'd really appreciate it. Would you target the Largemouths or the Spots, or both? Thanks, Brent Calhoun, GA
  11. Can Anyone give me some information on a new line of rod called a carrot stick. I've seen briefly where some of the resin of the blank is made from actual carrots. I saw where Boyd Duckett mentioned them in an article. Any info./web site would be appreciated. Thanks, Brent Calhoun, GA
  12. Strike King Lipless Crankbait - "Diamond Shad" 1/2 oz. War Eagle Jig 3/8 or 1/2 oz. 10 inch Old Monster Zoom worm with Tungsten Bullet Weight (1/8 or 1/4)
  13. Throw some Yamamoto Senkos. Any color will do. Get you some 5 inch ones T-rig it and fish it weightless. The horizontal fall is a fish killer...the'll tatoo it!!! Brent Calhoun, GA
  14. Shimano Sedona 2500 .. Great Reel at a price of about $40.00-50.00. Brent Calhoun, GA
