How much does this bass weigh?

Featured Replies

This is by far the biggest largemouth I have caught out of the local pond which is just down the street from my house. The pond im refering to is very small and this is the biggest bass I have caught in there. I have only ever seen a couple others around this size. Yeah I can tell if a fish weighs 1 or 2 pounds but I am not good at guessing the weight of these bigger bass. I also didnt bring my measureing tape with my this day so I do not have the bass's measurements :(. Im guessing he is probably around 4.5 pounds though

From now on, for a general weight, do this.

Take measurements as follows: Girth at the thickest point, length of fish.

Multiply the square of the girth in inches by the length in inches and divide by 800

For example: a fish measures 38 inches in girth and 59 inches in length, so 38 x 38 = 1,444 and 59 x 1,444 = 85,196, then 85,196 divided by 800 = 106.39 or 106-1/2

Yes he is back in the pond....the pond is actually just behind the camera man in the pic. I have a pic of my releasing that same fish as well.

Great looking fish.  I would guess inbetween 4.5-5 lbs.  I am not very good at it myself so I might be wrong.

Your holding that fish way out (which is your specialty). That fish is 3.5-4lbs. ;)

But I assume you know that. :)

I would agree with Trig 3.5-4

nice fish

Nice fish and thanks for putting it back.  I'd say low fours.
