Fishing Magazines?

Recommended Posts

I have looked at Bass Masters, NC Game and Fish and North Carolina Sportsman. What are some good fishing magazines? Is North American Fisherman and In-Fisherman any good?

I get Bassmasters (really good), Bassin' (is really good but not as many issues), In-Fisherman (is good), Field & Stream and Outdoor Life are good magazines if you want a good well balanced magazine.

North American Fisherman, I didn't like it as much.  In-Fisherman is a lot better.

I also able to find some really good cheap deals on all those on Ebay.

i get and like all the ones you mentioned with the addition of FLW.  FLW is similar to bassmaster but with a little more info and less do it yourself projects.

I subscribe to North American Fisherman, In-Fisherman, Bass Master, Bassin', BoatU.S. Angler, and Arizona Wildlife Views. All are informative.     Happy fishing.

I think Bassin is the best, but you never know when you will receive an issue.  In my opinion the magazine has great content, but it is very poorly managed.  They are very good at sending you bill after bill, but very poor on sending you the magazine.

I don't get any fishing magazines anymore other than the Missouri fish and game mag which I basically get for local info on more obscure lakes in the area.

The best mags ever were the old Fishing Facts magazine and In-Fishermen.  While they often only had one article per issue on bass fishing, it was thorough and gave a lot more insight on bass movement, seasonal patterns and how fish relate to structure and the why's.  Much more than Bassin or Bassmaster.

Honestly though, you can find just about anything you need right here by following the links at the top under fishing articles.  The amount of knowledge available at just this site is staggering.  I wish I had had the same available to me when I was starting out.  Talk about cutting down the learning curve.   :o

Bassin' by far is the best.

Splurge and for another $16 you can get the Bassin' Extras which is outstanding.

I only fish for bass so I like Bassin'.

If you join either FLW or B.A.S.S. you can get their publications.

May I suggest visiting your local book seller and purchasing both Inside Line and Bassin' magazines and decide which one you like best.

If you never have had BASS its pretty good, I feel like it gets a little repetitive once in awhile though.  But you can definately learn from it.  I agree that In-Fisherman is probably one of the best.  I would also get one published for your state.  I get the Indiana Game and Fish and like it pretty well in the respect that it focuses on areas and topics closer to home.  You may just want to research whats available for your state and look at them on the stands to see which one you would prefer.

I read most of my articles off of the internet.

There are 850 articles on this site and new ones being added all the time. Who needs to pay for a magazine?

Because my wife will die when I put a computer in the bathroom. Could a laptop be in my future? Seriously though, this site is great.

I really like Bassin, however every time I get a subscription, they screw it up. Now I just buy it from the news stand. I also have subscriptions for Bass Master, and In-Fisherman.

Ya'll have a good point.  In the old days they used the Sears and Roebuck Catalog to wipe with. I would think that Bassmaster Mag would be to slick.  ;)

Don't forget BASS Times. There are some great articles in that mag/paper.
