spring fishing from shore.

Recommended Posts

I live in a condo with a pretty good size sand pit in the back, its full of bass. So far ive had one realy good day, about 9 bass on a 1 1/2" tube and a beatle spin. but for the last week i bearly manage one bite a day. Need suggestion on what to use.

the conditions: from the shore, water is pretty clear can see about 3-5' out, anything that touches the bottom will almost instantly be covered in allgie(its starting to break up) and i live in kansas so wind is normaly about 20mph with 40-50 mph guests  ;D

any suggestions on a lure to use? also is it better to real in with the waves or against them?

Sounds like a pretty sweet set up you've got!  The tube idea is awesome, one of my favorites, and the spin part of the beatle, too.  I would maybe change the beatle part, though, and just go with an in-line spinner like a Mepps aglia or similar.  Its gonna get full of snot if you let it hit the bottom, so I'd try to keep it just off the bottom.  I'd also try reeling with the wind, which means casting into it.  You'll lose distance, but bait usually swims with the current/wind.

If you prefer the tube, just bump it along the bottom SLOWLY.  When you are nearing a fish, stop for a second or two, and then twitch the bait a bit, pause, twitch, etc. until you get a strike.

Hope this helps...

Mepps aglia, didnt think of that, got one in my tackle box gonna tryin it when this freakin cold front moves out.

the link is a good idea, and i plan on doing it later in the season but as i said anything that hits the bottom is engullfed in algie.

If the water is clear you're gonna have a hard time...honestly espcially during the spring you will spoke a fish more easily in spring than in summer.....I suggeset natural clothing or camo and from shore I would def go with a finesse lure or texas rigged soft plastic into cover.
