Question about the SUN vs your position

Hey Fellas: Sometimes I miss the obvious questions! I was looking over my logs, on 2 different locations, no cover except they are both weedy flats, one with some boulders in it.

I have never really paid attention if I am fishing with my back to the sun.

What I have; Several, sunny days, between noon and 4pm, which puts the sun overhead a good part , I have been having success by casting into the shadowy part of the water, over the front of beds and when I bring the lure out into the sunny part of the water  is when I am getting hits. I guess this is sort of like using the shadow/sunny line as cover, and I am hooking up there

Question : From real time experience, do any of you play this transition spot like I am? Do you fish with your boat, or your body in any particular relationship to where the sun is in the sky?

There is only 2 times i fish this line. If the pond or lake is very clear, or a cold front just came through and you have that "Bright blue sky" with no clouds.

As for having my Boat and body in a certain position. I do try to Keep my body with my shadow away from the fish.  But i only use this technique during peak spawn or when they are in the shallows and im flipping and pitching them.

Same here, on sunny days, I cast into the shade if possible, unless I'm fishing deeper water, i.e. 10' or more.

I try to keep my back to sun, but not always possible.

First thing in the morning cast into the sun, they are warming up, later in the day cast into the shadows they are cooling down and protecting their eyes.  Cold blooded with no eyelids.

if the sun is low, fish protected banks and fish the areas where the sun hasnt hit yet. this will be a great topwater and spinnerbait action. when the sun is high fish deep ledges and over hangs. for deep water use spinnerbaits, crankbaits and jigs in those areas. when fishing over hangs throw spinnerbaits, jigs and buzzbaits near the shaded area. if ou can fish parrallel to the shade or other heavy cover your fishing and fish slow. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Depending on what lure I am using I would say most of the time I cast beyond the object I am fishing. I drag or retrieve the lure through the shadow rather than throwing or pitching on top of it. You cover more water and hit both places, sun and shade.

I do agree with Snook. Most time bass will be suspended higher in the water column in the morning because the water is warmer and will move deeper or find shade in the day as the sun gets bright and hot.
