Pattern fishing super hot night fishing

Featured Replies

East Texas today is to reach 100+ and the water temp the other night was 94' in a small lake with very little structure and less cover.  What type of pattern should one fish on such a lake.  There are loads of bait fish and bluegills in the lake.  Lay it on me Ole'timers.

When it gets that hot, I like going out late at night with a black jitterbug and a 10" black plastic worm. I have caught most of my biggest bass at night. They larger fish get more active at night since it's so hot during the day.

Adult size bass prefer cooler water around 70 degrees and that could be the temperature below the surface; look for the thermocline to determine how deep. The old rule; "find the prey and the bass will not be far away" is true! Bass eat year around, night and day.

Bass also change what they want to eat nearly every day, it's a what is available menu. Try different things until the bass start to eat what you are offering.

No one can tell you what pattern is working without fishing your body of water; we can suggest techniques you can use to learn patterns.

Patterns vary continually while techniques are constant  ;)
