Does anyone have ANY tips for bass fishing in LATE winter?????? Thanks!

That can depend on a lot of things. How cold does your water temperature get? Whats the water visibility? How about vegitation? how deep does it go? and how about the types od structure? also is your lake drawn down? Maybe the other guys can give you a few more questions to anwer to better figure this out.

 

   If its me, I look for clear, stable water. I focus on points and drop offs. You really have to figure out what depth you're lake's fish are chilling at. Alot of our fish in alabama stay shallow but thats because of our mild winters. I hope I'm not too vague but fishing is an experiementation everytime.

Yea thats about the same kind of thing i look for too. Im fishing a tournament in february on Lake Murray in SC. Ive never fished it in the winter, so im just trying to get ANY information i can to help make a game plan. Im more than likely going to end up crawling a jig in creek channels and slow rolling a crankbait on some drop offs.

Thats not a bad start. The fish will probably be keyed in on crawfish so finding some rock type bottom will help your cause. Also if the water is warming you should check the drop offs and points around spawnig flats.

    If the weather is consistently cold you'll probably be better off around the main lake areas. I love main lake points throughout much of the year and I don't think this time is any different.

If it is like the Tennesse river you will probably like it better in the winter. Winterize yer boat by runnin it reglar. ;D

yep, grab some hot chocolate, put on some super fluffy socks, and kick back with a lady by the fire, do this until march and they'll be bitin' like crazy

Caught 2 on Christmas Eve on a rattle bait. Water temp was 44.6

My only problem is that i have trouble staying slow in deep water. I went out on the lake for an hour or so today and shook off 2 decent fish though.

X10, the rat-l-traps still seem to work everyday and the air temp is in the upper 30's and low 40's. The larger 1/2 oz traps work best. I even threw a 1 oz rat-l-trap and caught a 2# LMB on it. That lure is big.

My largest trap fish are always caught in the dead of winter while my fingers and toes are burning.

More often than not while I am ripping it back to the boat for another cast.
