my local lake has a all mud bottom that's covered in prob 6" of dead hydrilla across all the shallow do you guys think the bass will spawn in that or out in the deeper water ware there might not be so much hydrilla covering the bottom i have caught a few around grass clumps back in the canals but they were just dinks i want to find the mommas

Without knowing your lake I would say to start looking for places that offer more cover and oxygen

Bass will spawn on what ever bottom is available 

Bass are not free-spawners like pike & muskies, therefore their eggs require

at least marginal oxygenation. The reason buck bass sweep away muck and mire

is to reach the firm subsoil beneath that gives the eggs better circulation.

Lakes that appear to have mud bottom throughout will generally have sections of firm substrate

beneath the mud. If these areas can be found, you'll likely be dealing with lake sections

with the best population density. The easiest way to find firm subsoil is indirectly.

Look for places that support bulrushes, lily pads and the like, which do not thrive in poor soil.

Sand is the preferred soil for a bedding flat, but if need be, bass will spawn

over bottoms of clay and marl. However, when forced to settle for silt or muck, the nest will likely fail.
