paddle tail swimbaits

Featured Replies

Does anybody have some advice on when to fish the hollow belly paddle tail swimbaits. I bought two packs last year and I didn't even get a bite on them. Also do you swim them or  jig them?

A slow and steady retrieve is probably used the most.

You can also do a stop-and-go retrieve to mimic an injured baitfish.

A technique I use in colder water (below 50) situations is a yo-yo retrieve. I'll launch it out there and let it fall to the bottom. Then simply work it back using the rod to move it and reel up the slack as I'm lowering the rod. Try to keep as much slack out of your line as you can when lowering the rod as they've hit the bait on the fall (at least they do for me).

I bought a pack the other day.  That will be the last pack.  They cost too much, tear up too fast, and don't catch enough fish.  I will be sticking with a fluke, much more durable and cheaper.

I started using them and luv em. I use a mustad power loc hook and swim them along parallel to the bank and have good success. Just a steady retrieve just fast enough to get the tail thumping. Had one 2lber hit it just about as I was pulling it out of the water and he hung on.
