Does anybody ever throw any sort of jerkbait in the fall around this time?? just curious...

I start throwing them in late Oct and Nov for fun.  Never really got any bigguns doing it in the fall though... (only largemouth were I fish)

Yes I throw them when the water starts to cool off 65 and under. These baits excel when the water is cold especialy a suspended jerkbait.

Great bait for fall and spring.

Suspending jerkbaits and flukes are the best baits to use when the water gets around 60 degrees. The colder the water, the longer the pause between jerks. I have let them sit for 30 seconds between jerks before (this was right after the ice melted).

I like the X-raps... Hands down the best jerkbaits out. The dressed trebles really help give it subtle action.

i intend on building some confidence with jerkbaits this year. i've had some luck but not enough to fish them as regularly as my other fall lures

I been hammering bass with a lucky craft pointer the last few days in a row. And Im fishing 80 degree water on Lake Anna. They arent just for cold water. Infact I was catching them on flukes all summer on the potomac river. Jerkbaits work all year long where I live. Pointers also cast great in the wind which is one of the best times to fish a jerkbait imo. Just make sure you use a rod with a soft tip, I broke off a 6 pounder tonite right when I tried to bring the fish in, I ended up pulling the treble hooks right out of her mouth. I almost pulled an Ike right then and there.

Year round for me.  Jerkbaits make a great Peacock lure.  Doesn't hurt any that the Largemouth like them as well.

Yeppers! In two days I caught 30+ fish on the LC Pointer 78 (Sunfish)... I just ordered a few more from TW. The 100 & 128 are deadly pike lures year round as well.

Water temps around these parts are low 60's ATM.

I may have got that idea from a Pike master on this board.

Pointer is a well spent $15 in any size.

I really like, and recommend the X rap as well, but I've also found that when the water really gets cold (40 degrees or below) I have better success with a Husky Jerk.  I think when the fish get really sluggish, the X rap might have to much action, and a husky jerk is a little "slower" and more subtle.
