Newbie From NW New Jersey

Featured Replies

Been fishing my whole life. I used to live on Long Island NY for many years and did lots of surf fishing and very little, if any, freshwater fishing. However, I live in Lake Mohawk NJ for the past 6 years and do lots of Bass fishing and Trout fishing. Lake Mohawk is a private lake and is the largest man made lake in NJ. There is a catch and release policy so the large and Smallmouth population is very healthy. If I fish from my Kayak. I can catch 30 Bass easaly in a few hours. If I fish from shore I can catch just as many in my favorite spots. The lake is also loaded with perch, pickerel, crappie, sunfish, and Hybrid Stripers. So far in the 6 years I have lived here I have caught quite a few 4-5 pounders and my best in a 6.5 pounder. There are numerous lakes up in NW NJ that are within 20 miles of home (Aeroflex, Illif, Swartwood, Rykers, etc) that have trout, walleye, etc. 8-)

Welcome aboard from Long Island NY.

I moved here from NW NJ in 1986.

I still fish a lot of NJ waters each year.
