Anyone fish for smallmouths in North Georgia? I've heard of Lake Blueridge, but can't find any info online anywhere, and no one I talk to knows much about it either. One of the fellas I work with talks about how they used to clean up at Lake Chatuge, but it seems like it's been over run with Spots in the last 15 years or so.

I'd love to tag along with someone or swap trips with someone (Varner trip for Smallie trip?). If anyone knows of a lake I could get on with my electric jon boat, that would be awesome, too.

Re-post in the SE section so you have one in both. This section is for smallmouth and we have some latitude so I think it fits. You also have a very special species in the southern part of the state and northern Florida:

Lake Burton and Blue Ridge have them. Hard to catch from what i hear. No way to really pattern them or catch them consistently is what I have always heard. Have heard from old timers that Lanier was one of the best smallie lakes in the south before Spots took over.

Do your research and there are places in western NC that you can catch them wading...Thats how I caught the smallies I have caught on a flyrod. I just cant give this info out though.

Lake Blue Ridge has them.  Its a smaller impoundment about 3000 surface acres.  Patterning them is really hard adn the only luck I've had is power fishing places where there is a lot of rip rap.  If you want to go get them though you better hurry.  Spots have been illegally introduced and taking up shop.  PM me for a trip if your interested.
