  1. DO not lip a catfish, especially a large one. There teeth are like sand paper but what really hurts is there jaw pressure. Many times they'll chomp down and start barrel rolling. Its best to hold them by tightly holding there failfin, and placing your hand under there stomach. Rubber net is the best way though.
  2. Wow I should really pull my shirt down.
  3. Also you could give a grub a try. Put a jig head on it, you'll catch a lot of fish and there really isnt a wrong way to rig it.
  4. Pretty fish, though I do not believe they are oscars. They look more like Red Terrors to me.
  5. Give a soft jerk bait a try. Such as a slug-o, rig it wieghtless jerk it then let it die then jerk it again. The strike will be hard and during the fall.
  6. You know there was a Japanese Koi that was alleged to live for 226 years before it passed away. Here is the link, its name is Hanako http://www.arborman.com/koioldes.htm .
  7. Also you may want to try a topwater mouse. Something the bass dont see every day.
  8. Hello from Georgia!
  9. I got a Shimano Sahara and Bionic Blade combo for around $100 and BPS. Its a terrific finesse or worm combo for its price.
  10. I enjoy spinning gear over my BCs unless im tossing large lures. With my spinning I just have more confidence in what I am doing I suppose. I did try it with one of my BC's one day and it just felt wierd.
  11. The Large fishing your seeing is probably Grass Carp as mentioned in the previous post. I am going to second the shore line. The few predators that are lurking will be along the shoreline watching the bank. The parallel casts sound like the ticket to me. Also though I would try the Rebel Hop-R. Its a topwater grasshopper lure, should be just the thing for your situation. I would seriously doubt that this pond has any structure at all, most holding ponds in subdivisions are just wholes in the dirt .
  12. Hello! I am now very fond of my Fat Ika and Senko fishing and of course want a set up just for it. I was looking at a Shimano Sustain and some sort of Loomis rod. This will be my first real quality rod and reel and my budget is around $500. Any opinions are more than welcome.
  13. Lake Blue Ridge has them. Its a smaller impoundment about 3000 surface acres. Patterning them is really hard adn the only luck I've had is power fishing places where there is a lot of rip rap. If you want to go get them though you better hurry. Spots have been illegally introduced and taking up shop. PM me for a trip if your interested.
  14. I cannot agree more. When it rains I'm pulling out my black double buzzbait. I like it better than the single because they run a whole lot straighter and I can really slow buzz it.
  15. Hello, Im looking for someone who builds custom rods. This will be a worm rod but I'm hoping to get a crankbait, pitch, etc. later on. Just wondering who is out there building and selling, also I would like some information on the spiral guides. Thankyou
  16. Travis Lovett, Im 19 years old Full time student at Dalton State College for Secondary Education (high school teacher) Falcons fan till the day I die.
  17. I never really go with "One more cast" I like "One more bass" much better
  18. For some reason I dont think I would be into a senko much. Just so boring. Ha I'd probably go baby duck hunting and P.O. a muskie ;D
  19. In my opinion its really hard to go with a bad color in worms. Unless its rediculously bright.
  20. So if you were a bass what lure would appeal to you the most? Maybe a buzzbait skitting across the surface? Maybe a crankbait? For me it would probably be a topwater frog. I love frog legs, and I could really bust a topwater frog. Get that "I killed it" feeling. Im curious to see what people say on this.
  21. Ive used the LC RC 1.5 and they have been doing great. They bounce off timber well too and I dont have to worry about changing the hooks.
  22. Well, I myself collect Japanese Koi which are just carp that have been through an amazing amount of selective breeding. I would never eat a carp just because I would think of my koi and I love those big softies out there. Though in Japan if a guest of honor comes to your house it is a honerable gesture to serve him your most valuable koi. Im not sure if any of you know but that can be extremely expensive gesture!
  23. Do you see a big difference in hooksets? I know im going to change them out on my rat-L-traps. I got one today stuck in the fabric of my chair and while trying to pull it out the hook split down the center. Pretty bad quality.
  24. Crig! I love that freakin rig. Here ya go Senko or everything else in the tackle box? ;D ;D ;D
  25. Ok, I've heard a lot about changing the crappy trebles on baits like Rat-L-Traps and others but honestly i have no idea how. Also im not sure what size hook to use, or who has the best product out there. IF someone could give me a crash course, or a link to an article here on the website, I would appreciate it.
