  1. Well I live very close to Carters Lake in northwest Ga. The lake is extremely clear and has 3200 surface acreage. Its extemely deep, at points even more than 450 feet. It has little cover except timber and some grass beds, its main bass habitat is rocky points and stacks of boulders that is the home of Spotted bass. Spotted bass make up about 90 percent of the black bass family. There is also a substanial number of walleyes in the lake (yum). Stripers also cruise around and getting a fish 20 lbs. is not uncommon. I also live near Lake Blue Ridge which is around the same size, 3,290 surface acreage. This lake is also very clear but not deep at all, I think 200ish may be the bottom. I love this lake because it has a very good populations of smallies. Yes, this mean im 10 minutes from great spots and 20 minutes from smallmouths! I'm a very lucky person indeed. Anyways Lake Blue Ridge is full of blown down tree's, timber, and grass in the summer. So ya thats about it for me.
  2. Oh for me its gotta be Strike Kings finesse jigs in any color with craw trailer to match. Its my money bait.
  3. Well I've never tried these certain snake plastics, but I have tried floating plastics "10 or so. In my simple opinion, there an ok option, but for nearly all situations there is a better option.
  4. Personally, I dont think bed fishing really hurts the bass population in a tournament or not. Though it does do a little amount of damage to the amount of eggs that are available to hatch its kind of like hitting a steel door with a hammer. You may put a mark on the door, or a scatch, but that door is still gonna work and stay up there. Catch and realese I think are more important and have A LOT more to do with the bass population. Not only then are you not allowing that bass to breed this year, your not allowing it to ever breed. Thats kind of like taking the hinges off the steel door mentioned earlier, without its hinges being there first for it to attach, its just gonna fall.
  5. Hello! and welcome to our bass fishing dojo.
  6. Signed, I hope everything works out for you.
  7. I cant wait to get her out on the water again. Hopefully I'll be able to show off my first pick with my First bass caught in this baby! 8-)
  8. Ya the guy in the green shirt is me. I'm uber excited now to just clean the thing from top to bottom and to paint those trailer wheels blue!!! So anyone know what a good wax is for bass boats? I want Beatrice to get her luster back.
  9. Heres one more. My tower is a 2004 F-150 with the towing package. Shes got about 330 hp and you cant even tell Im pullin a boat when im driving it. Heres a side view! Well look good for $5700?
  10. Well heres some pics of my rig. Tell me what you think guys!
  11. WOOO! I got it, and boy I think im in love. Its amazing on the water, I can cruise at 50 mph(which is to fast for me) and the trolling motor is really easy to use and has 50lbs. of thrust! It jsut needs a good cleaning. Which brings me to my next question. How do I clean this thing? Im too scared to use turtle wax car wash and im not sure if the carpet of fish finder should get wet. Ugh the bane of being a noob
  12. Sign me up, sounds great. Who knows maybe I'll learn to catch fish on a deep crankbait. PSH yeah right lol.
  13. Live bait? Blasphemy! Lol I'd get a big ole jig and pork in a craw color and fish it slow around ambush point. I doubt that is used nearly as much as the big swimbaits and probably a pleasent treat for the big ole bass your looking for.
  14. Ya, ha I'm pretty nervous. I've figured this may be the best or worst day of my life. Ha so I'm pretty anxious. I'll give you guys a run down tonight when I come home with it or without it.
  15. Ya any more tips at what to look for? Pile them on me, because I'm leaving tomorrow to get it.
  16. Hey everyone! Tomorrow is a big day for me, Im driving over to Lake Hartwell and looking at what may be my first iver bass boat. Its a 17 1/2 ft. 1997 Nitro 770 with 115hp merc engine. Comes with trolling motor and 2 fishfinders. His price is 5900 but im gonna try to get him down. What do you guys think? Sound good?
  17. Well lets see.......... I've been catfishing and caught a snapping turtle, I've also caught a snapper on a top water lure. I caught a moray eel while deep sea fishing. Lol I've also caught a flying fish with my hand deep sea fishing. Also I was crappie fishing at night once, and I tossed out my crappie minnow only to put a bat out of the air. Also I was trying to fish a turtle out of my koi pond and I accidently hooked up with one of my $600 dollar fish. Talk about landing her carefully, I was so scared lol.
  18. Where was your success? I bet a brown one makes a great craw mimick.
  19. Ok so I was at the local pool room today eating and I happened to hear someone talk about there new secret lure they have obtained. After trying to make out a few of there mumbles I finally figured that they were talking about the Chattter bait. Now this isn't the first time I've heard about the Chatterbait, its seems to be the new lure the bait monkey is handing out lately. Does anyone have any experience with this bait? I was thinking about getting a few and making a trip to Eufala and try them out. Just wanting to know how its worked out for anyone.
  20. I've never tried the bright colors idea. It does make sense though, maybe a craw drop shot, only the craw being neon green. Ha I got the fish bug, what about anyone else?
  21. I work at a fish hatchery and all we use is rubber nets. I remember on my first day at the job they gave me a nylon net to use. They told me to scoop out 250 channel cats for an order, I guess I shouldve known by the big smile on there face. Well of course I did and I think it took me 2 hours to get them out of all that nylon. It was great when the boss came in, because hes a no-nonsense kind of guy and saw what I doing. He threw a rubber net beside me and stomped off. I've used rubber ever sense..........
  22. lol "I dont know what bassin is...........but i wan it"
  23. Haha I've fished Carters plenty of times, and boy it can put the skunk on seasoned guys as well. I live on Carters and fish it regularly, rarely do I get the skunk but it does happen every blue moon or so haha. How is Allatoona? PM me about it, im planning on going there soon maybe.
  24. Wow, not to be a later tater but I want in on this! Though I'll just make the drive instead of flying. Flying is for birds after all, and last time I checked Im no bird.
  25. Lol I think a net would go a long way in some of those occasions....personally with a large catfish I just sort of wrestle them haha. With large fish as in pikes and stuff I'm not of seein as though I have no real expereince. A pair of mesh gloves and a bucket of confidence maybe ?
