  1. I have a 225 gallon aquarium that i keep in my basement. Its currently the home of two spots that are about 10 inches long. Rather personable little guys. I enjoy feeding them shad and crawfish, which i gut load before feeding. The fish sold as bait in most tackle shops are horrible emaciated and offer little to no nutrition for fish so I have a 55 gallon sump (which is part of the filtration) that I use to gut load the shad before feeding. One thing I have noticed about how they attack there food though. They will ambuch the shad, but when they encounter a crawfish they stop and sort out the situation before they attack. They jsut dont zero in and explode, instead they try to get the craw by surprise. I've seen them circle it and then slowly approach from behind and then when in range just inhale it. Now if the craw trys to make a run then the spot slams him with no mercy of course .
  2. Well I never like to basically because the gills are vital to the fishes oxygen intake. Plus with them being so full of blood I'd hate to grab them really hard because if they burst then the fish well bleed to death usually. Not to really say it will kill the fish if you grab it by the gills, its just that they got a perfectly good mouth with sand paper teeth for grips
  3. Hey guys! Just a question about spots. Here locally where I fish spots make up about 90% of the black bass population. I use mainly finesse techniques for these guys such as hair jigs, finesse rigs, and jigging spoons. I just wanted everyone input on there spotted bass encounters and maybe some cool techniques and links for me . Also your personal best spot, mine is 4lbs 3oz.
  4. Thanks everyone, the warm welcome is very cool. I cannot wait for this upcoming year, its going to be awesome! Im glad there is a good showing of georgians here, nice to represent the record holding state .
  5. Hey guys and gals just thought I would introduce myself to everyone here. You can all call me Travis, T-rav or what have you. Im 19 and one of the new-generation in bass fishing (ha or I want to be). Ive fished all my life ever since my grandfather took me catfishing with him in the Tennessee river, though now I've went on to bass fishing. I gotta say I love the sport and Im very passionate about it and conservation as well. As of right now I hale from Ellijay, Ga which is right on Carters Lake. I fish mainly in Ga but really want to get out to more of the southeast soon. Im really excited about joining this forum, hopefully I can learn more and widen my knowledge as well as share some with all of you. This coming week im gonna purchase my first bass boat, a 1997 Nitro 770. Im extremely excited and cannot wait! This summer I also plan on entering my first bass tournament so this is gonna be a very evenful year for me I guess in closing I just wanted to say hello to everyone, and give you some background about myself before posting.
