First Smallmouth!!! **Pic**

Featured Replies

This is my fist smallie. im guessing around a pound. Caught it in a creek in Utica, Ohio on a pumpkin seed and chartruse tube on a 1/8 ounce spot remover. I can't believe how hard it fought for how small it was. What are some other good smallmouth lures.

Cogratulations!! I got my first smallie this season too and as a result, LM have taken a back seat so far. ;D

Senkos and 4" grubs seem to do great when I go for smallies in my pond.  They are sight hunters, so you would probably have better restults with a bait that "sticks out".

I'm having some good luck on kreature baits..in green or brown color

Congrats on your first smallie, they are some strong fighters and definely my favorite to fish.

CONGRATES on ur first smallie..... some baits that i find realy succesfull on SMALLIES is a BLACK BERRY (death berry) babby brush at night or any babby brush hog works realy or any crank baits an PIG an JIGS......

Nice fish! I wish there where smallmouth around here.... :-/

Congrats. For smallies I like grubs, senkos and knockoffs, and plastic works zoom trick worms being some of the best other types of worms with ribbon or curly tails also work, spinnerbaits are good, crankbaits of all types also work good. Don't forget live bait either if you want to catch lots of fish.

i usually use smaller tubes around 3 or 3.5 inches on one of the new ikey head jig heads....also i use smaller spinner baits, senkos, small jerkbaits, beetle spins.....and any other kind of spinners you can catch em on.....
